Owner description: This bridge looks beautiful when it's lit up at night, a monument to Vancouver's cosmopolitan romance and sophistication.

If you've got some time then the Lion's Gate Bridge is a great to walk or bike over. Otherwise, it's beautiful to admire from afar while taking a stroll on the Stanley Park sea wall. Just don't try to get over the Lion's Gate during rush hour on a Friday!

The Lions Gate or First Narrows Bridge connects Vancouver to North and West Vancouver and everything north like Squamish, Pemberton and Whistler. It was financed by the Guinness family because they owned 4700 acres in what's known as The British Properties. This land is on a mountainside in North/West Vancouver with beautiful vistas but worthless without proper access. The bridge is not friendly to traffic in either direction so if you have all day try driving across it. It will anger you to no end but the view is great. The bridge is about 1.5 miles long and the deck is about 350 feet high at mid-span. It resembles the Golden Gate in San Fran but they have foresight in California unlike Vancouver BC.The Golden Gate is six lanes.

We drove over in the daylight and back at night. The bridge has lights all over it making it spectacular! Fun to see.

Nice color green. Solid when driven over. If you go to Stanley Park, you can get straight on views of this bridge.

I sailed under this beautiful bridge for the start of my Cruise to Alaska in RCI Radiance of the Seas. It was very impressive looking at it in both directions and from underneath......
It was equally impressive crossing it in a mini bus several times.....
Also lovely from Stanley Park...
