We stayed at The Wickaninnish Inn for the second time, and it was every bit as good, if not better, than our first visit. On this our second visit we stayed longer and had more of a chance to eat at The Pointe Restaurant.

We had breakfast and dinner at The Pointe Restaurant, and drinks and a dinner in The Rocks Bar (the upper level of The Pointe Restaurant).

The dinner at The Pointe offers a la carte or a tasting menu. We dined a la carte and thought it was impressive cooking, with top level quality and attention to detail. Local and broader Canadian produce was showcased. There is an extensive wine list, with plenty of price point options.

The dinner at The Rocks Bar offers less complex dishes than The Pointe but certainly no lesser quality. The house chardonnay which we had with our delicious BC oysters was excellent. As an example of the attention to detail this restaurant offers, a choice of malt or white vinegar (as well as a housemade tartare sauce) was served with the fish and chips. True fish and chips aficionados (like me) greatly appreciate having malt vinegar with their chips!

The breakfast/brunch at The Pointe is incredible. A very wide range of dishes (including a separate vegetarian breakfast menu), ranging from a bowl of oatmeal to a breakfast tasting menu! The a la carte cooked breakfast dishes are beautifully prepared and completely delicious. I also thought the breakfast prices were very fair for the quality of the offerings. For example, "The Pointe Breakfast" (two eggs, prepared as you wish), bacon or spruce sausage (the spruce sausage is scrumptious), potato rosti with tomato jam, a mouthful of salad and choice of toast with preserves) is $19, which for the quality of the offering and ambience of the surroundings is, I think, excellent value.

The staff in The Rocks Bar and The Pointe Restaurant are totally professional, skilled at what they do and friendly and engaging. We felt very well looked after at breakfast, drinks and dinner.

Visited for our Anniversary dinner. Service was fantastic, views are amazing. The food is presented very nicely, but found it to be a bit bland and overpriced for that reason. Better restaurants in town for half the price.. but you can’t beat the view!

Dear Tricia M,

Many thanks for posting a review of your recent dining experience at The Pointe Restaurant.

We are delighted you enjoyed your Anniversary dinner at The Pointe Restaurant and particularly appreciated the service and the view. We were, however, most disappointed that you found your selected dishes to be somewhat bland and overpriced. Our culinary team prides itself on providing tempting and flavorful dishes and we are truly sorry if they did not meet your expectations in this regard. It is our standard to replace any dish not to our guest’s satisfaction if brought to our attention and we certainly wish we could have had the opportunity to address your concerns personally with you at the time.

We never want a guest to leave the restaurant hungry or unsatisfied and hope our guests feel they have received good value for their overall experience. While the cost of the food is a function of not only the outstanding food products, many of which are locally sourced organic products and many others made in house by our team members, but also incorporate the costs of high-end table ware and of course providing a location that offers a spectacular ocean front view.

We truly value the feedback of our guests and we can assure you that your comments have been provided directly to our Executive Chef and our culinary team.

What more could they do. The hostess that seated us was. extremely pleasant and efficient. She recognized us and led us to our table. The wine steward was very knowledgeable and informed. Our server answered all our questions very efficiently and his service was excellent. The food was delicious Although it is very expensive it was worth it for a special occasion. We all had appetizers, mains and desserts and all agreed they were excellent. We all agreed excellent food and excellent service. They had excellent gluten free protocols which were appreciated by the celiac in our group.

Tofino is a beach resort, casual, upscale, relaxed.

It's like The Pointe hasn't moved in 40 years - like dinner at my grandmother's and not in a good way.

Everything felt heavy and dated - the expansive view just doesn't reflect the old tired french service that is so out of place in Tofino.

You can have exceptional service and food without pretension.

The dinners looked like a cookbook from 1960 - old and dated with no imagination or creativity.

This is a restaurant that is very expensive but seems to fall short on all fronts - having travelled the world and eaten at exceptional restaurants, The Pointe does not rank among them. At $330 for two with only 2 drinks they need to do better.

We also wanted to buy preserves and were left standing in the lobby waiting for the staff who disappeared, then couldn't figure out payment - no apologies or recognition they had left us waiting for 15 minutes.
