Tofino is a long (4+ hours) drive from Victoria but worth every mile. Our travel agent recommended we visit the rugged West Coast of Vancouver Island and booked us for three nights at the magnificent rustic Wickaninnish Inn for our accommodation. There are two accommodation options - On the Beach or At the Point - both equally magnificent. Probably one of the highlights of our 6 week adventure to Canada and Alaska and fully recommended to any traveller wanting a memorable experience. The hotel resort is magnificent and the standard of accommodation unsurpassed. Our spacious and luxurious suite offered the most amazing views of the incredible coastline and every other facility one could wish for. Sitting in a steaming bath looking out at the views was a luxurious and memorable experience. The staff at the Inn were exceptional and went out of their way to assist in every way they could. The Point Restaurant was exceptional (reviewed separately) and the Crab bake on the beach was excellent. Walking along the expansive beach and watching the massive Pacific Ocean waves roll in was an experience we will never forget. This is a must do for any visit to Vancouver Island.

Room tip: All of the rooms have panoramic water views.

It takes a long drive to get here, but from the moment one arrives, this special place makes the journey worthwhile. The staff is not only well-trained, but well-selected. Young people with open personalities and humor and grace provide a warm and genuine welcome. The rooms are immaculate, but also homey with every possible amenity on site. The views are stunning from the lobbies and the restaurants. The decor is beautiful and the wood beams remarkable for such a new building.

An extraordinary place!

A truely lovely place in some of the most scenic surroundings you could ever wish for.
They have thought of everything except for the magic. You may have access to coats and boots and binoculars etc but this place has none of that special magic feeling. It's almost as if you are an inconvenience here, messing up the immaculate decor. Don't even think to ask if you can take a drink into the lobby whilst waiting for a table, can't be seen to make the place look tatty! Also when we arrived we mentioned we had a trip to the hot springs the next morning and needed to phone to confirm and check the start time and location. The guy who checked us in said he'd do that for us and get right back to us with the information. This was around 6:30pm. We had a table booked for 8pm in the restaurant so just before that time we passed the desk and enquired to the details for the following morning. The guy hadn't called the tour operator, making some excuse about going on his break and then being busy checking other guests in. The tour provider closed at 8pm so we were totally blind for our tour, not knowing the time or location etc. It was only by spending our time looking at the tour website and some good fortune that we made it in time which was 8am. Would I visit again? Yes I would. The location is superb and the rooms are lovely. I just wouldn't waste any of my time spending it eating here or doing anything else here. Sleep and relax in the room and go out for everything else and not rely on staff to lift a finger to make my stay enjoyable.

This hotel has one of the most stunning views ever. I never got tired of the view from my room. The scenery in this area is truly stunning and the hotel is very well situated to make the most of it. The beach in front of the hotel is wild and stunning and my 12 and 14 year old were like little children again spending hours looking in the rock pools catching fish and crabs and other sea life (the hotel Kindly provided buckets and nets for big children too!)
Loved riding bikes to the local restaurants 10 mins away (wild side grill is fantastic) and into town about 25 mins away.
Breakfast in The Pointe was amazing. So delicious!
Would love to return someday.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this place, We were in a beachfront room with a small terrace. Just sitting with morning coffee and watching the waves. Dinner at The Pointe also amazing. The staff is wonderful...a completely wonderful experience.
Thank you so much!
