We made the short journey from Alderlea Farm Cafe on a dreary West Coast morning!
We were welcomed by John and Katy into their earthy, home-spun restaurant by pleasant conversation that warmed us right up.
We ordered the special of the day which was a delicious spinach cheese pie, served with beef bone soup and a fresh from the oven whole whet roll.
We will definitely return to try out a burger and beer or for Sunday night wood fired pizza!
This is a great find in the Cowichan valley!

Alderlea Farm and Cafe makes you feel at home while offering a European warmth and country-side ambiance. The drive to Glenora is definitely worth it - like stumbling across an exquisite eatery unexpectedly in Tuscana or Provence. Katy and John are the 'real thing'; offering a warm, gracious welcome, a delicious home-cooked, farm-to-table, organic meal, a selection of award-winning local wine and beer, and a stunning view of their farm. This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat!

We are repeat visitors. We find the food to be excellent and the service attentive, but not in your face. We like the use of local ingredients, many of which are grown on their own farm. The daily specials add a nice variant to the menu. Lots of vegetarian items to choose from.

Here's a tip: Plan a trip to the Cowichan Valley JUST to stop for lunch or dinner at Alderlea Farm. The restaurant, on the main floor of the farmhouse (with outside seating overlooking the valley), serves dishes made with ingredients grown or raised right on the farm. The food (especially the soups, salads and wood fired pizza) is delicious and the setting is spectacular. John and Katy make you feel like you're visiting friends. It has become our family's 'go-to' cafe for an affordable meal. You'll want to linger until you just have to go - the Cowichan's culinary equivalent of 'The Field of Dreams'.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times over the past couple of years, usually with family. It's set in an old farmhouse and the food is cooked in the kitchen right in front of you. The owner is a fabulous cook, and the servers that she employs are enthusiastic and attentive. Every single time we have gone, we have enjoyed it very much, even simple dishes like the chicken soup and sandwiches are delicious. They are known for their scrumptious pies and desserts. Overall, it's a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
