The only place to stay when in Jasper

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Jan 2024
When planning our trip from Australia to Jasper I planned our itinerary around the resort being opened. We had stayed here on our previous trip in 2015 so I knew what to expect. The resort has increased its number of cabins but this do not affect our stay. It is out of the main area of Jasper, so you will need a car. It is across from the Athabasca River and you can sit and relax on the chairs provided on the shore, even having deer/elk wander through. The accommodation goes from hotel room to apartment style accommodation. We stayed for 2 nights and had a deluxe bedroom suite (cabin M) again. They are lovely and clean, the views amazing and the fireplace was very handy. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I would definately stay here again and would highly recommend to family and friends.

We stayed here for 3 nights in one of the smaller cabins. It really suited our needs. The weather was good enough to sit outside on the porch. At night we chopped our own wood for the fire place. I thought this was a fun offer. You can also buy it if you prefer. All girls at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The lodge, very comfortable and clean. It is located just outside of town, close to the river where you can sit in the evening with a drink. It is very quiet.

Alpine Village was on our bucket list and it didn’t disappoint. Beautiful grounds, cabin was very clean, comfortable with a large deck. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to please. Highly recommend staying here.

Hi 510David510,
Thanks for your kind words. Glad to hear you enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend at Alpine Village. Perhaps you also carved a pumpkin at our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest?! There's always next year if you didnt!

Very good location, cleanliness, service and charm. Loved having coffee on the first morning with a beautiful bull elk that was bugling and eating grass on the front lawn. Enjoyed evenings in the chairs along the river that’s across the road.

The only negative is the very small/tight living space in the one bedroom with fireplace cabin that we had (Heritage One?). The dining table became our luggage stage and the living area served as our changing space.

I wanted to reserve a larger unit but this was the biggest one available on the first day that online reservations opened…nearly a year in advance.

The good news is that buy the end of the first day, our disappointment with size was offset by all the other positives.

Hello WLStClair,
Sorry to hear you felt the living quarters in the Heritage One Bedroom Cabin were tight. We do our best to make our cabins liveable and comfortable. In this particular case, the Heritage One Bedroom Cabin is on the same foundation that was originally built 75 years ago. We have of course updated them since then but are tied with the amount of space we have for the overall footprint! Should you ever come back, I would recommend the Deluxe One Bedroom Cabin or Whistler One Bedroom Cabin as these wouldn't be as cozy. We are happy to hear you were able to overlook this negative and enjoy the rest of your stay. Experiencing the bugling bull elk surely helped!

We stayed 5 nights at this gem and this might be our favorite place we ever stayed. We rented a family cabin which was perfect for our family of 4. The cabin was sparkling clean, so beautifully decorated, and well stocked. Beds were comfortable. The property is tranquil and beautifully maintained.
My kids enjoyed the sports equipment in the shed they played with on the front lawn. I loved the Adirondack chairs by the river side and the hot tub to soak in after a day of hiking. If it had been available, we would have preferred the deluxe family cabin for the back deck and privacy behind the cabin - hopefully next time !! My kids keep asking when we'll go back.
My only suggestions for improvement would be providing on-site laundry facilities and putting a king bed in the upstairs loft instead of a queen.

Hi LaurenDell,
Great suggestion regarding the king bed in the upstairs loft and on-site laundry facilities. We always aim to improve our property so suggestions like this are great and will be taken into consideration.
Thank you for your other kind words. We are happy to hear your family enjoyed your stay. Yes, the Deluxe Family Cabins definitely have a more private deck (and are about 25 square feet larger) but we often recomend the Original Family Cabins for families with children due to the proximity to the toy shed and front lawn. These ones allow the parents to be within eyesight enjoying a glass of wine after a long day of hiking with kids! Either way, both Family Cabins will be waiting for you should you ever decide to return (allthough it sounds like you won't have a choice if your kids have their way)!

I don't know where to start... we stayed a total of three nights first one night in a smaller cabin and 2 nights in a family cabin. They both were perfect and both extremely clean. they had everything we needed in both cabins. One night we had a fire in the fireplace which we chopped the wood for the fire. The big elk were there when we arrived which was a special to see and they were there everyday at some point, one morning opened the door to elk bugling in front of the cabin. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with the questions we had in the area! I would recommend this to anyone visiting Jasper!!! The only negative was we didn't check the refrigerator when we put our groceries in when we changed cabins as it was turned off so a few of the items we had to throw away and purchase new ones ...but the next morning when we noticed it, we turned on and worked perfect.

Room tip: Perfect place!

Hi MIDWESTJF,
Thank you for your review! We're so sorry about the refridgerator. Our housekeeping team shuts them off to properly clean them between guests so likely forgot to turn it back on. However, I am glad to hear that despite this you truly enjoyed your stay with us. We hope you'll be back soon!
