The Varscona Hotel was a great overnight stay while we were in Edmonton. The Hotel's decor has been updated and our room was clean and comfortable. Free parking was convenient, the comp. breakfast was average and the staff was helpful and courteous. The hotel is right in the middle of the action on Whyte Ave., and lots of great restaurants are in the neighborhood. Despite being on a busy street, we did not find it noisy. Would def. recommend a stay there.

We have stayed many times at this hotel. It is so central to the restaurants and shopping and theatres of Whyte avenue. The helpful staff, pet policy, good beds, clean rooms, wine tasting in the evenings and decent buffet breakfast included in the morning make this an enjoyable stay for business or pleasure.

I have stayed at the Varscona numerous times over the last 10 or 15 years and this last time was equally as good. We received a very warm welcome on check-in (always fresh apples for the taking on the front desk) and the complimentary valet service is always appreciated! Our King room was a little on the small side but really, how much room do you need in a hotel room. It was exceptionally clean which we don't seem to find at very many reasonably priced hotels these days!

We did take in the complimentary wine & cheese which was very nice & relaxing. The wines were tasty & there were plenty of options. Very nice selection of cheeses and crackers as well.

The complimentary continental breakfast is among the best I have had anywhere - hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cold cereals, pastries, yogurt, fruit juices, coffees, teas - again, very nicely laid out & very clean.

The hospitality room that these events are held in on the 2nd Floor is very welcoming with some tables & chairs as well as a comfortable couch/chair seating area in front of the television.

Would be nice to have flat screen TVs in the rooms but not a deal breaker.

Excellent location if you are going to be touring around Whyte Avenue or going to the Jubilee Auditorium. We went to a show at the Jubilee and walked there, which is a good thing to do if it is nice out as we didn't have to fight the traffic! Really not far from anything if you have a vehicle at your disposal.

Found a great price on Expedia or get the Alberta Travel Card for discounts.

Room Tip: Views from any room I have stayed in are not spectacular so ask for a corner room so that you are away from the usual hotel noise.

I picked this hotel because of the location being close to the Jubilee where we were going to see a show. Should have stayed farther away in a place we would have enjoyed. when we finally found somewhere to park two blocks away and checked in we were told that they had valet parking or complimentary self parking. After asking the girl at the front desk with the facial piercings where we could park three times I finally just gave up trying to get an answer from her. At least there was someone else there who could help. When we git to the room it was clean but plain and if you didn't close the door hard it wouldn't stay closed. Having the second cup in the lobby helps but I would suggest staying somewhere else and driving or taking the lrt wherever you are going.

Room Tip: go somewhere else

We asked for an end room, away from Whyte Ave. (as the noise can be bad on weekends). The room was well furnished and comfortable, including the bed. There was reasonably good noise dampening from adjoining rooms but hallway noise could be louder than preferred. Underground valet parking was a nice touch. The small boutique hotel is on Whyte Avenue with its proximity to a wide variety of restaurants and shops in the area.
