Description: A community hub in Calgary's Southeast, Starbelly simply offers good food, exceptional wine and the feeling of being home amongst friends. Made from scratch, our home-style cuisine tastes best amongst good company. Our menu changes with the seasons, to showcase the natural flavours of our own backyard. We source fresh, regional ingredients from local suppliers and make everything in-house, whenever we can. General Manager | Derek Mihalik

We had dinner here with another couple and found out that the menu had been changed recently. The entire menu is very tempting and there is something for everyone. We started with their signature braised lamb ribs, the pork belly and the Mexican dip trio. The 3 apps were enough for all of us to share and were very tasty. For our mains, we had the halibut and shrimp, herbed chicken and the burger. All were nicely plated and presented, tasty and good portions. The only negative was that I found my halibut abit overcooked. We indulged in the apple crumble as well as the signature donut with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The apple crumble is truly an individual-sized serving so if two people would like it, one to share is not enough. Overall, the ambience, food and service is very good and we look forward to our next visit.

Thank you for the great review! Happy to see you came back and enjoyed the new items that you and your guests tried. Next time you're in you should try our new and improved Starbelly Burger... It has already become a staff favourite!

Thank you for the feedback on the Halibut, I will make sure to pass that along to my Chef.

Hope to see you again soon!

We visited Starbelly back in March based on the reviews we read and were not disappointed. The interior décor was well thought out and the open kitchen concept was well executed. We had the mussels and flatbread for starters and found both to be decent. My favorite though was the main course; the striploin was done to perfection! I’m a big fan of steaks and my striploin was charcoal grilled to a perfect medium rare. Service was good and we felt like we were well looked after.

Average food. Mac and cheese was rather tasty however it was supposed to be gluten free for an allergy. This didn't work out so well. Celiac person in the party was burping and in pain with in 10 minutes. Biggest problem with this is, when you say your capable of accommodating a gluten allergy you better be capable of it. It's better off to just say that you can't do it rather than potentially put someone through the pain of ingesting it.

In watching how the kitchen is run, there is cross contamination in pretty much everything, especially when you are using common utensils to plate. Either get educated or stop saying you can do it.

Also. Holindaise sauce tastes oil based instead of full butter based. That was also annoying.

Perhaps lunch or dinner would be better here.

Had dinner here with a group of 8. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Pleasantly surprised that such a beautiful venue can be found far south of Calgary and it makes a great addition to the area. The meal was hot, delicious and portions were average (would recommend you try the Cioppino). The only disappointment was our appetizer of mussels...not meaty inside and there is room for improvement. Did not get desserts because we brought a cake because we were celebrating a birthday. Price-wise it is up there so would only go here on special occasions. Great customer service received from Ally! Plus she had a great sense of humour. Our group had a fun night!

Went there with my hubby, love that we can walk there. My husband had troubles finding something to eat, but he is a picky eater.
I enjoyed mine and would for sure go back to try some other dishes. My husband not so much.
