I kind of expected more from the cultural centre. When I went there was a cool thrifty market inside, with plenty of artisan sellers. There was a band on stage and loads of querky things to buy from local sellers. Not sure what else goes on here on other days, but I enjoyed it.

While everybody has a favourite shop or eatery or three in Chinatown, the Cultural Centre will always be its heart. It is a superb building on its own, worth the visit just to see the architecture and decoration. Although it is a living place (it has a daycare onsite, a travel agency, education rooms and programs, and a library and more), there is a popular restaurant and shops there as well. When Chinatown celebrates, something is always happening at the Cultural Centre, so whether you're visiting or a resident, check out events calendars to see if you can connect.

There is 4 columns in this building each representing a season.
The exterior blue tiles are made in China by the same company who produces the tiles for the temple of heaven ceiling in Beijing.
To see this building is free. There is a small museum located in the basement . Admission charge $5 please check out the beautiful "tiger" picture made from feathers .

We passed thru this place while enroute from Eau Claire Market to Chinatown. The building itself was pretty cool but not a lot to see or do for a Saturday. Just a passing photo op. Not sure why its on TA?

I had the privilege of attending as a vendor at the many markets put on by the Chinese Cultural Centre. I was amazed at the diversity of the activities that were offered both free and a nominal cost. There were stage events, information all through out the centre and ongoing (hands-on) cultural activities. The Chinese Cultural Centre makes a real effort to communicate and involve the Asian community and more importantly the non-Asian community to bridge the understanding between East and West. It was so rewarding to feel how welcoming the custodians of this amazing centre were to outsiders like myself and my son.
