A lovely period home within easy walking distance of downtown Calgary. Kelly is a wonderful host and made my stay exceptional. A wonderful place to call home for even a very short stay. Thank you, Kelly, for the opportunity to experience your B and B. Glad you had room for me!

Stayed with Kelly and his loyal friend a small Scottish terrier named Blanco. Was greeted to piano music every morning along with a great bowl of oatmeal. Bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom clean.

Price was reasonable for the services offered. A great location!

I will go back again!

Whilst there is still some minor work to be done to finish the renovation of this wonderful old home, it is very comfortable and homely; and is situated at walking distance to down town Calgary - about 25 minutes. It is definitely value for money. Kelly Smith, is a friendly, exceptional, accomodating host with a subtle sense of humour and is only too willing to go out of his way to help his guests in whatever way possible. All you have to do is ask. He also entertains playing his antique, square grand piano. If I ever have the opportunity to visit Calgary again, Hughes House would be my first choice of accommodation.

It was a great time hosting the "Klan Kaberry" and finding some folks with a shared sense of humor. Salubrious salutations to you nice folk from Blanco and I. Trust the rest of your trip goes well and hope to see you all "down under" sometime.lol

Over the last eight years we have stayed numerous times at Hughes’ House and always enjoyed it. We have stayed in all his rooms. Each of them has a unique character furnished and decorated with beautiful antic things. All the rooms with their also unique bathrooms are spotless. With Kelly we met a man who truly loves people. He can give good advice about anything related to Calgary.
We never had breakfast with him but were invited a couple of times to parties he throws frequently to give young artists an audience and a place to perform.
At night when we returned from our kids he often waited for us with a glass of wine and we talked with him about God and the world.
Whoever is looking for a nice room, an excellent host and a central location this is the place to pick in Calgary.

I have the great pleasure of having several sets of grandparents who visit Calgary to see their kids. These folks are guests who have morphed into fine friends and I do miss them now that the kids have a bigger house with a guest bedroom for them. I do thank you for these past years of being a peripheral part of the family and do give us a ring next time you're in town. Best to you,K

We would have loved to stay longer than one night as we were made to feel so welcome. Great dog & breakfast. Guests keep returning so it was like hanging out with friends. One of Calgary's best steak restaurants (according to guides) 2 mins walk away.
