Always on Top of their Game

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Sept 2020
We have not been back to the Post for about 4 years; we have been visiting since we started dating so looking back, about 20 years. This year, even during this pandemic, their timeless hospitality has not changed. Though some faces have changed, there were still many that we have met over the years that are still there, all offering their still high standard of service.

Some people have written that the hotel is somewhat dated; if you are looking for the glitz of the Four Seasons or an Intercontinental, yes it is. If you are looking for classic furnishings and surroundings much like a fine Swiss inn, then you have found your place. The hotel has yearly maintenance during a down time from October to December, and it shows. The bathrooms are still pristine as well as the furniture, the beds hugely comfortable, so much so, I have my best sleeps there. This year, there seemed to be more trains at the time we stayed for some reason, and yes, they can be loud. We stayed on the CP Rail side and I am very sensitive to noise but I had no trouble sleeping through the night.

Right now, you purchase your stay as a package including breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is a generous continental breakfast - overall excellent and one day included homemade jelly doughnuts! (Extras were provided on our request :o)). However we did find it rather "carby" and a protein such as eggs or cheese and ham would have been very welcome. Boxed lunches with sandwiches or wraps can be ordered (extra cost) and the one I ordered was prepared very well, with the quality synonymous of the Post Hotel. If you are wondering about the quality of the evening meal, it is still unchanged. You still get the wonderful meals the Post Hotel dining room is known for, and George, Andre and Michael still do their rounds, greeting each guest and easily making small talk.

In general, not much has changed at the Post Hotel except for the COVID-19 precautions everyone is taking. We felt very safe and encourage old friends of the Post to return and stay. I'll be honest - we were hesitant to book at first. However, their kindness, hospitality and service is still the same. Go, you will be glad you did as we were.

This place is amazing. We spent 4 days here and came out feeling really relaxed. While it's expensive, the place is completely worth it and felt like we were staying in the Swiss Alps :) we're going to be back again!!

We are so impressed with Post Hotel’s carefully thought out COVID protocols. Safety is paramount during this pandemic so I can confidently say that this establishment is above the rest. Even your remote control is wrapped in plastic! The COVID-19 Kit you’re provided with has everything you could possibly need. It’s all in the details so please don’t be deterred by negative reviews. Do your research because the facts are that your room rate includes a generous breakfast in your room & a fine dining experience (4 course meal in restaurant or room) exclusive to hotel guests ONLY. There is NO option for walk-in diners during this pandemic. There are ‘preferred’ rooms that face the river so train noise is not an issue. Call and ask for recommendations if you’re unsure. The staff are wonderful - very friendly, careful & attentive. You will not be disappointed!!

$750/night, most ridiculous hotel we’ve ever stayed in. We were told of a “preferred side” because of some CP Rail noise. Doesn’t matter where you stay on this property it feels like the train is coming through your room.

The dinner is great, will come back to the restaurant but NEVER stay here again.

We’ve stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Louise for 20 years and their worst room is better than the Post Hotel’s best room.

Another sublime visit. Everyone who works here “leads by example”. There is nothing that they can not do to make your stay perfect. Inner on the deck or in the dining room was superb as was the breakfast in the room. Being in the medical field for 40 years I can tell you that THE COVID PROTOCOL IS SECOND TO NONE!!!!! A temperature check upon arrival. Everyone in masks and gloves. Cleaning is going on at all times and they provide each guest with a COVID package— mask gloves and sanitizers.
There has been no place that has made us feel more relaxed and protected than the Post Hotel. More than “worth a visit” during these times.
Big Thanks to All.

The Post Hotel is without question Canada's best boutique hotel located along the beautiful Bow River just behind, but out of site, of the town of Lake Louise, yet very close to the Lake itself. Their service, professionalism and attention to detail continues to be at the highest level. And this is the perfect time to visit given the border restrictions. Their covid protocol is also the most complete I've seen with questionnaires and temperature check before you enter, sanitation stations everywhere, a welcome kit for each guest, masks worn by all staff, plexiglass in front of all desks, touchless check-in and out....thorough and complete - makes you feel very safe. A full compliment of staff awaits you everywhere in the hotel and you have the place almost to yourselves! The world class dining room now offers a 5-star gourmet 4 course dinner, and an excellent breakfast served in your room, (in front of your own fireplace). Do yourself and the hotel a favor, enjoy this gem in the mountains while it is available. We did and we plan to return later this year....our favorite desination.

Room tip: Rooms on the river side is preferred - fireplaces and deck in those rooms
