Now back home, our group of four often think backs to the two delightful hikes we went on with Eva and Paul Sylvestre's Nature in Focus. The two of them work as a great team: both are easy to get along with and very friendly. Paul walks in front, Eva stays in the rear with those whose pace is a bit slower. They stopped often to inform us, in turn!, about the wildlife and plant life and geological history of the Banff area. We will not forget montane and subalpine and alpine zones, Moss Campion, Mountain Avens, Indian Paintbrush, the friendly Fir and the spiky Spruce , Buffalo berries (beloved of bears) and the telephone bird. Our eyes and ears were certainly better trained for subsequent walks in other areas. We even met some friendly wildlife! Eva and Paul are very experienced guides and we very much felt in safe hands with regards to decisions about weather conditions and where to hike to. They were even armed with bear spray so we could let go of our worry about meeting a bear up close and personal ( everyone we told we were going to the Canadian Rockies mentioned bears...). Eva and Paul told us they have never met a bear on their many hikes, by the way. Thanks again Eva and Paul for the wonderful memories. Hope we meet again.
