“Spectacular Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2012

This is a beautiful hotel. The fire place and setting is superb. We had Deer and Elk wandering around the grounds which was great. The lobby is spectacular and although we only had breakfast there, it was very pricey.
The only issue is the bus to the ski slopes don't stop at this hotel. This means carrying skis and boots to the bus stop (which is just over the road) then getting off in town to get the bus to the hills. A bit of a pain at the end of the day! We did walk into town several days (not with skis) and it is a pleasant strole. Takes around 15 minutes.
The first night we were there the room was like a furnace as there had been a cold snap the week before. All heating turned off, we still cooked that night. Oh and I left a slice of pizza in its box on the side, saved for when we got back from skiing....when we got back the cleaner had taken it away....Gutted!!!!!!!! And we left some complimentary chocolates on the balcony on the first night as they had melted due to the furnace conditions. Again, they were gone the next day. Double whammy!

We stayed here at new years 2012 for 2 nights for a wedding. Started staying in the lowest room which we didn't find to be that mice for the price but it had a fire place and balcony. The finishishes in the room weren't up to par for the price and were a little out dated: old tv, carpet etc. went out for breakfast the next day when we got back to the room the KEY wouldn't unlock the door it just kept spinning luckily a maintenance guy was walking by and took care of us. He brought us to the lobby where they got us hot chocolates while we waited then upgraded us after about a 30 min wait to the junior suite: Large bathroom with claw foot soak tub, stand up shower, fireplace, larger living area, and fridge. We would have went for this suite in the first place I'd we would have known the small difference in price and big difference in quality. Overall staff was friendly, location is a 5 min cab to downtown, not walkable (approx. 20 min down a large hill), parking was easy and plentiful.

Room Tip: Junior suites were a big difference in quality from the lowest room

We arrived in Canada on December 29th and the Buffalo Mountain Lodge was our first stop. The hotel consists of a number of 2 story rustic buildings with a central building for the restaurant. We were give a room at the very end (1011) which was perfect for us because behind the terasse was the forest and we could observe deer.
The room was big, well decorated with a real fire place, huge, cosy beds, Bathroom big, beautiful, breakfast buffet in the main building not cheap but of great quality and variety, I especially enjoyed the large selection of fruit!
We spent 4 nights there and felt like heaven to me.
Please note: Hotel is out of town. I think there is a bus but am not sure

If you are looking for a cozy weekend retreat in the mountains, look no further than Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Although considered still in the Banff townsite, the Lodge feels as though it is a secluded retreat in the middle of the mountains. The rooms are tiny and dimly lit, but gives to the aura of romance. The smell and sound of the wood burning fireplace (that is in each individual room) adds to that charm. The outdoor hot tub is lovely, as is the steam room. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. We were there for a family wedding and my Grandfather became ill, staff were over immediately and were very helpful and concerned. Overall the food was great except for the 19 dollar brunch buffet that was not restocked and consisted of cold eggs benedict and a few grapes and melon at the bottom of the fruit salad bowl. In fairness, we did get there for 10:30, and the buffet ends at 11:00, but when you are paying that much, you expect a little more. :) The food at the wedding and the ambience was outstanding. The only thing that the guests and family did not appreciate was the cost of the booze. It was a cash bar and we were prepared for that, what we were not prepared for was the cost. Half a can of pop poured into a glass was 3.50. A bottle of Canadian was 8.75. Seriously? Felt like we were getting ripped off, which was a shame because everything else was so lovely. I highly recommend this resort for the staff, ambience and coziness, but if you are thinking about having a wedding here, I would seriously question the cost of alcohol.

This hotel is a great way to spend a weekend away with serene surroundings a nice quaint room and great food at the restaurant! This was a perfect romantic trip for my wife and I. We loved everything here and the caribou medallions were delicious! We spent 3 days here on a biking trip.
