We had the best welcome from Hilary when we arrived, including a full chocolate cake waiting for us in the kitchen! The cottage was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. There is a patio with table and chairs - and even a BBQ.
Great countryside location, not far from Ventnor which is well worth a visit. Fantastic food at the Pointer Inn which is walking distance from the cottage. Take time to visit the Garlic Farm and have a black garlic sundae.
This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight and I'm sure it won't be our last.
We had a great stay for one week at Springfield Cottage. We could not fault the accommodation. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. It is well located for Sandown and Shanklin. We would definitely stay at this cottage again in the future.
The cottage is beautifully kept and feels like a home; it was hard to imagine that there had been others there before us! The fact that the owners live next door was a bonus; they were friendly and attentive, e.g. comfy chairs for sitting in the sun appeared in response to the fantastic weather, but not intrusive. The overall feeling was one of peace and security.
Newchurch was a great central location for a touring holiday with a dog friendly beach close by at Yaverland as well as easy access to the rest of the island. The National Trust Guide was a good starting point for our travels; we found the Old Battery at the Needles and the Newtown Reserve particularly worth a visit. What else could you ask - a nice pub within easy walking distance and some good dog walks nearby. Newchurch has both. Brilliant!
Just got home from a lovely week at Springfield cottage. Clean, homely and a really comfortable bed. Ideal location for seeing all of the Isle of Wight. Local pub, The Pointer Inn serves amazing food and has a nice garden too. Highly recommend and will stay here again if we ever return to the island. Thanks Hilary x
This was our first holiday to the IOW with our dog and so we were delighted to come across Springfield Cottage as an establishment that allowed dogs and after reading all of the positive reviews made a booking for our holiday in June.
Booking was a breeze and the cottage was easy to locate with parking outside in a quiet secure and secluded spot. On arrival we were met by Hilary, the owner, who could not have been more friendly. She showed us into the bungalow which was even better than we had anticipated and we felt right at home from the outset.
The bungalow was spotlessly clean and had everything that you could ever want and a whole lot more. After showing us around Hilary left us to it but said that if there was anything we needed then we were not to hesitate to ask her, we knew there and then that there was never going to be a problem. Imagine our surprise when settling in that we found milk in the fridge, a chocolate cake and even more which was far beyond anything we had expected a birthday card and a box of chocolates and some dog treats as all three of us (2 adults and our dog) were all celebrating our birthday within a day of each other.
The bungalow is of a good size and there is plenty of room to move around, the bathroom is also very spacious with a good sized shower with towels and other things readily available. The kitchen is open plan to the lounge but is again a good size with fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and cooker and hob all of a good and high standard. There are more kitchen utensils etc than most of us have at home and everything is catered for. The bedroom had a kingsize bed and the mattress and pillows are the most comfortable we have known and there is a large wardrobe and chest of drawers. The bedroom also has a patio door which leads into an enclosed area at the rear of the property with a seating area and barbecue. the enclosed area is a godsend to anyone taking a dog as it is very secure and even Hilarys dog Tolly will come and say hello when in his own adjoining garden.
We cannot praise this property and its owner high enough, a gem of a find and one that made our holiday complete so much so that we have already booked again for a return visit. The location of the property is very quiet with a good pub within walking distance.
We would like to thank Hilary for making us so welcome and to Tolly for entertaining our dog Monty, a great holiday and one we cannot wait to experience again.
