Came here with friends on a Saturday night after a days walking. We visit the area every year to walk and this pub is also a compulsory visit! Never fails to deliver. Very warm welcome, excellent choice of beers and lovely food. We sat by the fire and enjoyed listening to a folk band. This is an old fashioned pub as they should all be!

Like stepping back in time. Beautiful
old interior, a proper pub. Fantastic belly pork and black pudding and great beer. Lovely old pub just a stone's throw from Monsal Head. Venison burger also delicious.

Great selection of Thornbridge ales, lovely food, decent portions, friendly service, open fires. What’s not to like?

On a recent visit to have a midday snack I had a cheese cob with salad.
The cheese was grated and falling out the side of the cob, also, the chutney pickle
was packed in the cob, so when it was eaten the cheese and chutney came out over your hands. This was awkward and messy and unacceptable.
Just do sliced cheese and ask if any additions are required to go in the cob ?
A standard cheese cob should be the easiest snack to do in the world, don't make it
fancy !
