The Boot is a gem in South Derbyshire. For the small village of Repton to have such a wonderful restaurant is a wonder and an great asset. The food is always good here. The Boot IPA is second to none and the only IPA I will drink (others seem to try to bludgeon you with their IPA hoppiness which leaves a terrible taste behind). The Sea Bream was a refined, complex dish with a lovely filet stacked on top of spinach loveliness. The chicken and brie sandwich was sumptuous - delicious and filling. Their hot roast beef and horseradish sandwich on Sundays is the perfect way to end a long walk into town...along with a Boot IPA, of course.

Harpurs of Melbourne is one of the best all round gastro pubs in Derbyshire. The welcome is always extremely friendly, the selection of drinks on offer is always good and the food is always of an exceptional quality. The staff are very hard working, smiley and are happy to offer recommendations on both food and drink. I'm always confident to take friends or relatives to eat at Harpurs knowing that everyone will be happy with their food and the bill will be a reasonable price. Service is quick and food is always well presented and hot (well done kitchen staff).

We booked a meal and a nights accommodation at the Boot and weren't disappointed, but the menu is pricey. The rooms are beautifully decorated but are small. Double beds should be banned! They're far to small and our particular mattress was exceptionally soft. We stayed in room 1, which overlooks the beer garden, so it's very noisy in summer as there's no air conditioning in the room and we needed to sleep with the windows open. The basin in the bathroom is far too small - you can't brush your teeth over the bowl or wash your hands/face without messing on the floor. There's also no shelf/soap holder in the shower, so everything from your shampoo, conditioner, soap etc has to stand on the floor while you shower. That said, it is spotlessly clean and superbly decorated. The restaurant is excellent, but pricey. Great if you're not on a budget.
