“Best cottage in the world”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Our party of three adults and three small children stayed here for three nights. My 5-year-old daughter described this as the best cottage in the world, and I can't think of any reason to disagree. Am amazingly charming cottage with fascinating cycling bits and bobs everywhere. The owner was very friendly and contacted us about the stay beforehand about any special needs to ensure everything went well. The helpful notes in the cottage were perfect so we mastered the immersion heater with no problem for warm showers and quickly got the fires going and were all snug. The luxury of having two lounges with fires meant there was sometimes one for me and my book, and one for everyone else! Amazingly comfortable beds and everything you could possibly need except ... here it comes, Miles, the only improvement I could possibly think of to suggest .... a hair dryer .. or did we just not find it?

. . . a hair dryer . . . no it wasn't under the bed :-) Now why didn't I think of that? Perhaps because I'm folically challenged. But Caroline has lovely hair and uses a hairdryer . . . Anyway, we've got one now & it's ready and waiting for your return :-) "The best cottage in the world" . . . we love your daughter . . . so sweet and lovely. Thank you so much for writing a review. It's very kind of you and much appreciated by us and fellow travelers. Thank you for coming to stay. We are delighted you had a lovely holiday. Big smiles all round.

“A beautifully presented, idillic country retreat.”
Reviewed 21 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

After a few communication issues prior to our arrival, which meant we only received the property details on our day of arrival, we had a wonderful 4 days at the cycle sanctuary. The house is beautifully presented, with all the home comforts needed for an easy stay. There are lots of lovely extra touches which just added to the lovely feel of the house. The property was immaculate with plenty of extra linen and towels.

There were lots of helpful instructions left for us by the owner to explain about the quirky runnings of the old cottage. A guide of the local area would be useful and I understand this is a work in progress!

We stayed with our toddler and other family memebers and whilst the property is on lots of different levels this did not pose any issues and our son loved the lovely garden and the neighbouring sheep!

We shall definatly be returning to this wonderful house and beautiful countryside!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We really do appreciate it. Helpful to us and other guests thinking of staying at the Cycle Sanctuary. My apologies again for our rubbish comms at the start :-( Lessons learnt and mistakes not to be repeated :-) Very very pleased you had a lovely holiday, the surrounding area really is very beautiful, and that you'd like to come back and stay. There'll be a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for you :-) Have a great summer and thank you again. Miles & Caroline

“Beautiful location, cottage full of character - loved very moment!”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed at Sanctuary Cottage for a week in April. We brought our bikes along to explore the South Downs area. We arrived at the cottage late in the evening but were welcomed with very detailed instructions on lighting the fires (which provide the heating for the house - very cool) and information on local food places and supermarkets. All was very helpful.

The cottage itself was full of character, and we loved all the cycling themed decor, art and kitchenware (with options to purchase and take these with us if we wanted!)

There are plenty of places to visit in the area, and lots of lovely cycle routes! It was quite nice, however, to retreat back to the cottage at the end of the day to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Overall, lovely lovely place, we will definitely be visiting again.

Thank you for choosing the Cycle Sanctuary for your holiday. I'm glad our information to help you with your holiday was helpful and that you enjoyed our log burning stoves. As you discovered, the Cycle Sanctuary is a great base for day rides as there are so many lovely places in the area you can cycle to / from in a day. A favourite of ours is riding to Petersfield and lunch at the Cloisters Cafe. I'm glad you liked our cycling inspired decor. The next time you visit we will have a bicycle workstand to make it easier for you if you need to work on your bicycles. Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. So helpful to other customers and much appreciated by us.

“charming, comfortable cottage in stunning countryside, with pub close by”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in January 2015

I stayed in Cycle Sanctuary with friends for New Year (2014/15). The cottage is roomy and welcoming, kitted out all the things you need for a relaxing break. The bedrooms are clean and cheerful and the beds are large and very comfortable. The two wood burning stoves kept the house as warm as toast and even in the winter, the views from the upstairs windows are spectacular.
We had a lovely evening in the local pub - 3 minutes walk away. They have a good selection of real ales and a good menu of pub food.
I will definitely return for a stay in the Summer or Spring, when it will be even more beautiful with the leaves on the trees and lambs in the fields.

It's good to know you enjoyed your New Year celebrations at the Cycle Sanctuary and The Milburys pub. It's great being able to walk to a country pub, celebrate New Year's Eve and then walk home again isn't it. It was a nearly new moon, so you had some moonlight and the stars to light your way back down the road. So beautiful. Good to know you got the hang of the log burning stoves. They make the cottage so cosy and lovely. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. So helpful for other guests and much appreciated by us.

“Whats not to like?”
Reviewed 24 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

A lovely retreat in beautiful countryside. We wanted a country escape and this exceeded our expectations. A beautiful house, a really nice owner, a great pub just a short walk away up the hill, lots of good walks. Loved Alresford which is just a short drive away. All highly recommended.

We are really pleased you had a lovely 'country escape' at the Cycle Sanctuary. Alresford is such a beautiful town. We've just had the Watercress food festival (mid-May) with the Watercress steam train line running special services between Alton and Alresford. It was fantastic day. If you decide to come back, this is a great time to visit. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. So helpful for other guests and much appreciated by us.
