“Our home in France!”

We'd love to live in France, and this house with its pretty garden and fabulous pool would be exactly the kind of home I would choose to live in. The pictures do not show what a mesmerising view there is from the patio (I spent hours contemplating it) or how it is the perfect size for a couple, extremely comfortably furnished and equipped, spotlessly clean and maintained. And the pool area is pure luxury and so private - it's great for lounging in the sun with a book, cooling off with a swim now and then.
The owners are amazingly helpful and friendly, sensitive and not at all intrusive, both before and during our stay, can't praise them enough.
One small thing: the house faces the fields to the back, which is lovely. The downstairs bedroom window opens onto the road through the village (though no one can see in, it's too high up and there's a high hedge, plus there are wooden shutters) but you can hear the traffic when it's quiet.
The Michelin-starred restaurant in the village is really worth trying if you are into good food, truly innovative combinations of flavours in a romantic atmosphere. So much to see in the area, never a dull moment, but take my advice and don't try driving to Bordeaux, takes longer than you think because there is no motorway!

“Great house”
Reviewed 9 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This is a great house in a location that allows exploration of some traditional villages, although area has lots of British expats.
Accommodation very good, only minor issue was air conditioning which is only available upstairs and makes a real din, making it unusable at might.
However the rest of the facility, by far outweighs this issue. Swimming pool in a lovely setting, with sun traps everywhere.
The kitchen well equipped and a very comfortable lounge,
All in all an excellent house.

“A beautiful place to rejuvenate on the edge of the Dordogne region”
Reviewed 3 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We arrived after midnight and found this lovely two bedroom cottage which was charming in every way and spotless. The owner had prepared a delicious chicken salad dinner complete with wine and bread because she knew we were coming in late and would be hungry. It wasn't until morning that we could see the true beauty of the place with it's lovely garden and fantastic pool.

The house was small but incredibly well equipped and easily accommodated two couples, although the beams in the upstairs bedroom were low and we had to be careful not to bump our heads.

However the wonderful location amidst fields of sunflowers and medieval bastides was phenomenal. We hope to come back soon- no matter how soon we come back, it won't be soon enough. If I could buy this home, I would.

“Absolutely Idyllic. Wonderful Holiday!!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 for a stay in June 2014

My husband and I stayed at La Marotte for two weeks in June and from booking to arrival, the whole experience were totally stress free. In the weeks leading up to the holiday Linda (Owner) could not have been more helpful, answering any query we may have had within 24 hours, (via email) giving advice about the local amenities and attractions and even providing us with a delicious welcome basket of bread, jams etc...
Linda lives approx 10 mins drive away from the Cottage so is close if required but totally respects your privacy
Arriving at the collage we were bowled over by how private this property was, with the beautifully well kept garden overlooking nothing but fields and a secluded heated pool which we discovered is bathed in sun from morning to night (A feature I recommend you take full advantage of).
The cottage itself is lovely, (Pictures do not do it justice) absolutely spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen with all the modern facilities you would need. The bedrooms are stocked with crisp bed linen and bathrooms with good quality towels (a pleasant change to some other properties we have stayed in, in the past) and there is ample storage space in wardrobes and chest of draws for all.
The lounge has an array of books and DVD, so with the Satellite TV all this will keep you occupied however we preferred to spent the evenings on the veranda enjoying glass of wine (or two) watching the sun set over the idyllic views
We found the cottage location ideally situated to visit the many wonderful attractions of the Dordogne, with a little Boulangerie to collect your daily baked bread and a few restaurants to visit, if you fancy a change from all the barbecuing, just a two minute stroll away.
We thoroughly enjoyed are time at La Marotte and would not hesitated to book again and recommend it to others.
