Fine-dining with a wide selection of menu from seafood to various poultry. We tried the deep-fried crickets for the first time, can't say that I liked it, but it was interesting experience. Music was great and the magician who played tricks with the card really added extra fun to the dinner

Located inside Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, this is the Mexican Specialty Restaurant. Representing Mexico on many levels such as with iron agave plants in center, tooled handcraft lighting, old style painted walls with menu. pictures of Frida Kahloa and Diego Riviera mention. Ambiance is old world style Mexican. Beautiful old tiled floors. two levels. Lovely decor.

Hector the manager and hostess welcomed us with open arms. We started our meal with a very Mexican Sweet Lime Margarita. We then had prepared tableside by chef, a Oaxacan style gourmet Guacamole with grasshoppers, ants and yes Maguey worms. We were given the option to skip those but nope, expanding horizons always we went with it full steam ahead. The first bite was a bit hard to do but my oh my , it was yummy. I have had grasshoppers before so knew they can be yummy but the worms well, that was harder but they were really good. We then had a salad with oregano dressing, followed by a baked Goat cheese with carmelized pecans, yummy and each course was wine paired for us by the Sommelier Chris. To cleanse the palate we were served a very different sorbet made of jacka fruit, mescal, guayabana and blueberries.
Our main course was a Mole covered Octopus dish with very tender octopus and a spicy mole. It was tasty and I have seen this or a similar dish before at exquisite restaurants with gourmet Mexican food. The service was good by our waiters David and Johnnie and following dinner we progressed to coffee and dessert.

Hector the manager suggested a flaming Mexican coffee so again we went with it. It is a sugar rimmed glass with Don Julio tequila, Controy and Kahlua and whipped cream. The presentation was done by Johnnie one of the waiters and was one of the best flaming coffee presentations we have seen. Just great. We had a Tres Leche cake surrounded by white chocolate and a chocolate mousse on the side. In going with the birthday flair, yet another happy birthday plate with a delicious Raspberry filled custard and crumb bottom.

A great meal was had by us both and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We will revisit our next trip.

Beautiful setting, excellent service and great food. Everyone here is super attentive and know how to make their customers feel special. Our food was delicious , but my coconut ceviche ( vegetarian menu) was to die for.
