Great hotel property with even better service ! All of the staff are excellent, focused on customer service. Our room was large, clean and well maintained. The gym is excellent with plenty of choices. The pools are nice and the food, choices and quality, are great ! Bar selections are excellent. I’ve been skeptical of Mexico all inclusive choices but this one far exceeded expectations. My family and I will be back.

We are most honored, Anthony, to have had the opportunity to play gracious hosts to you and your lovely family.

Your arrival allowed us to demonstrate to you the endless possibilities to our upscale, all-inclusive, and now that we have turned around your prior perceptions on quality, you can now realize that you were not at just any all-inclusive hotel; you were at Grand Velas.

Thank you, Anthony, for your wonderful comments, and also for the many reviews that serve to guide other travelers. We remain at your faithful service and send our warmest greetings to you and all our good friends in Toledo, Ohio.

Pros:
- Service level across the resort was the best we've ever experienced in an all-inclusive
- Specifically, we ordered room service several times and the setup and quality was amazong
- Also, Pool service (Samuel, Vladimir, and Gilbert) was also phenomenal. Samuel adjusted our umbrellas all day to keep us shaded which was much appreciated
- The beach is great for long walks. Gradual slope (unlike Cabo) and soft sand
- We got the Parlor room which was just about perfect as it's a room within a room so we could block out all light and sounds during day time naps

Cons:
- Chairs around the pool are first come, first serve so the best spots were "reserved" with paperbacks and magazines, usually by 7:00am
- Very few true beach beds and the ones they had were tiny. They have a number of canopy tents with lounge chairs but its not the same as other resorts we've enjoyed. [We like being on the beach more than the pool so this one is probably specific to our likes]

Room Tip: The Parlor suite is a room within a room so we could block out all light and sounds during day time naps

Thank you very much, Eli, for sharing your thoughts and impressions with everyone on TripAdvisor.

It is highly pleasing to be considered to have the best, all-inclusive service that you have experienced, as well as providing you a suite service, dining experience similar to those found in our 4 Diamond dining venues.

I appreciate greatly your observations on the reservation of pool furniture. During the Easter festivities, I have had my pool managers arrive to work much earlier to instill order in the pool and beach areas even though it is still dark outside. We are, however, fortunate to have an abundance of loungers and tables this year and my staff will be administrating their use for the better comfort of all guests.

Thank you, Eli, for selecting Grand Velas as your family vacation setting this year. Your motivating comments, along with your valid suggestion, will bring us that much closer to the elusively, high pinnacle of perfection. Take care and warm regards to everybody in Dallas, Texas.

Thank you Grand Velas! My wife and two boys (6 and 3.5) had a wonderful 6 day, 5 night vacation at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit in Nuevo Vallarta (flew into Puerto Vallarta). This place impressed me all day, every day, in many different aspects.

The experience started with a cool, breezy, vaulted ceiling in the lobby with a fountain. We got massages in the lobby right after check-in. We then walked into a beautiful, spacious suite with a view of the pool and ocean. High-quality, comfortable furniture. Well-stocked with water and snacks, the latter especially helpful for the kids. Bathroom, amenities and daily cleaning and re-stocking on par with any other top hotel.

Superb service everywhere. There are so many employees around, seamlessly keeping the grounds clean, and seamlessly always available to place an order for a drink or anything else. Anywhere you sit at any time of day practically, a smiling, informed person will either ask you if you need anything or they will be easy to spot and signal to. This happens in a very comfortable, relaxing, unobtrusive way. You can easily have anything you want, yet somehow you don’t feel like you are constantly being asked.

The included Kids’ Club was a big surprise. Our six year-old enjoyed getting away from us every now and then. For kids 4 and over, it’s so simple to just check your kid in or out. They can have lunch and/or dinner with other kids and the caregivers if they want, and our son was glad to do that a couple of times. I came in with our 3.5 year-old multiple times to play with their toys or backyard playground structure. And after arranging for a sitter per policy for kids under the age of 4, we left him there with his brother one evening when we ate at Piaf. His sitter was Lucero, who our son had a great time with. Kids like it at the Kids’ Club because they have lots of toys and let the kids generally play amongst themselves.

At the main buffet restaurant—Azul—the view is gorgeous, the service outstanding (again, tons of employees, each one interested in helping), and the food diverse, plentiful, and tasty whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. The number of choices was mind-blowing, and at breakfast could satisfy the health nut (green juice, dry rolled oats, cooked rolled oats, granola), the picky kid (from pancakes and waffles to sugary brand-name cereals and donuts), or the traditional eggs, meat and potatoes or whatever diet someone is on. Lunch and dinner were similarly diverse. Saffron turmeric rice, sure. They also have Mexican items such as chilaquiles. At breakfast, they maintain a fresh array of juices from all kinds of fruits, and the fruits themselves sliced and ready to eat, on ice.

The resort has high-quality main events. At 11-1ish they had farm animals for the kids to play with (a contract with an outside farm for about 50 days a year). Our sons loved taking a horse ride during this time and playing with the piglet, baby cow, chicks, goats and ducks. In the late afternoons, there was another kid-focused event, such as a giant foam party or pirate show. In the evenings at about 8 PM, on different nights they had a fire show with highly skilled performers, a Star Wars show, a mime, and on our last night, a Michael Jackson show put on by a group from Venezuela. The “Michael Jackson” could really do Michael Jackson’s dance moves.

The place is plenty big, with enough seating and staff everywhere, even during full occupancy.

The pools are large, beautiful, clean and just the right temperature. The Margaritas and Pina Coladas there were superb.

Again, what has really left an impression on me is the staff. I wish I wrote the names down of all the amazing staff, but only realized I wanted to remember their names on the second-to-last day. Here are a few that were exceptional and whose names I remember. Poolside, Efren helped us for three days and went over the top, giving us extra of what he thought we would like (such as fresh clam ceviche), and checking in at the right times. Such a nice man! At Azul, there was a man who helped us at lunch on Wednesday and breakfast on Thursday. I think his name was Edgar, but I’m not sure. At lunch, I asked if the green juice from breakfast was still available. He said it wasn’t, but that he would make some up fresh. Wow! It was delicious, and appropriately less sweet (less orange juice) than in the morning. At Lucca, Celso Castellanos (I’m sure about the first name, but maybe have the last name wrong) was superb on both of the nights we went there. He knew all the ingredients to the dishes, helped manage our sons with crayons/drawings and interactions with them, and kept our wine glasses at the right level. As with everyone else, he was very warm, friendly and always had a smile. Another great guy! The hostess, Jennifer, was also very welcoming, as was Celso’s partner, Christian. At the Kids’ club, Jackie was super helpful, super nice, and like the other caregivers, very upbeat. They are indefatigable! For everyone else I didn’t name, including the last staff to help us in the lobby by getting us a good deal on a cab, thank you too!

Of the dinner restaurants, Lucca and Piaf were our favorites in terms of the food. At both, the salmon was flaky and not overcooked, along with a tasty crispy skin at Piaf. The meat just fell off the bone of the lamb shank at Piaf. The heat and seasoning of the seafood dishes at Lucca (for example, the seafood risotto and the linguini with shrimp and zucchini) were delicious. At Lucca, not only was there a vegetarian section, but a vegan one too. I had the vegan pumpkin soup. Again, the food everywhere in the resort is top notch. Grand Velas clearly has put a lot of thought into their food vendors and chefs in order to use high quality ingredients, create high-quality dishes and serve them in an appealing way, even in the warmed containers at the buffet. Even down to the smallest of details like the comfortable white napkins wrapped around the handles on the lids at the buffet to make it easy to open and close the containers. The wines on the all-inclusive list are diverse and it’s easy to find a good bottle. And if you want and can handle it, the wine will just keep coming and coming.

Grand Velas, your staff is amazing. I hope their warm, tireless, can-do and upbeat attitudes are reflected in the care Grand Velas has for their lives at and outside work. Your staff is a resource of immense value. Please treat them like a precious gem.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor room to be safe from late night outdoor music associated with events.

I cannot thank you enough for taking some of your personal time to relay to other potential guests just how upscale and fulfilling your family vacation was with us at Grand Velas.

As director, your comments and observations allow me to envision the guest experience through your perceptions. And I must say that you covered practically all the areas that go into our service, product, and facilities, and for that, I am incredibly grateful and now know which employees to congratulate, on your behalf, for a job very well done.

Thank you again for expressing your enchantment with all that represents the Grand Velas experience. My staff is indeed a national treasure and their talents, by my standards, are second to none. We look forward to repeating this "Perfect Vacation" with you and your lovely family many times over. All the best!

This place is 5 star from top to bottom. We have been to many all inclusives (Dreams, Finest, Secrets) and this one blows them all away. The service, the FOOD and the accommodations were all above and beyond. We may never try another resort!

Thanks to Tania, our concierge, who helped us day and night. We cannot wait to go back to the Grand Velas!

Room Tip: Governors Suite has 2 full baths. Perfect for families with teens!

This resort means RELAXATION from the moment you check in.. Upon arrival, they greet you with your name, get your luggage and seat you in their beautiful lobby overlooking the ocean.. no stand in line with your ID in hand!! Entire check in process happens on that lovely couch where you are welcomed with cold towels and a refreshing drink. Then you get the most amazing 5 min shoulder and scalp massage!!

Rooms are beautiful and spacious with L’ocittaine products and nespresso coffee machines. If you spend a little extra and go for the ocean front room, I promise you won’t regret!!

Now the all inclusive part!! All room service, mini bar stocked daily, 3 specialty restaurants Frida (Mexican) Luca (Italian) and Piaf (French- allows kids 12 and up) a lunch only restaurant Selva Del Mar serving tacos/ceviche/burgers and all day buffet restaurant Azul, that has the prettiest ocean front view.. all of the above is part of all inclusive.
All your alcohol, specialty cocktails, lots of wine choices, top shelf don Julio tequila is included! All gratuities and taxes are included too. They really don’t expect you to tip but they are so sweet and work so hard to get you the best experience that giving them a little extra is well deserved. Our waiter Renee at Azul remembered exactly what drink we ordered and made sure it was at the table before we even ordered!

Pools are clean and well maintained, the tri level infinity pool has a gorgeous view with a swim up bar. The only hassle is you got to come early and reserve your pool loungers/beach cabana by keeping your belongings. It’s first come first. If you reach at 8 AM, most good ones are gone. The beach concierge also provides complimentary sunscreen (SPF 50)

Resort provides complimentary boogie board rental for an hour. Kayaks are $45/hour. Some private companies offer parasail, however they only take cash so make sure you have some extra $$ They take USD

The dining experience at the fancy dinner restaurants is mind blowing!! Food is so gourmet and presentation is incredible. No shorts allowed, even for kids.

There is a kids club that you can leave your kids and they do fun activities with your little ones. Take them to pool, dinner, movies, also a part of all inclusive

There is a fun teens club for 13 and above with multiple Xbox stations, Air hockey, table tennis and lots more. They have snacks, desserts and soft drinks for your teens. My kids had a blast there!

Our special thanks to Executive chef guillaume who went out of his way to get us the most delicious habanero cream sauce and Thai red curry with rice, And Master mixologist David Rivera who made the most amazing cocktails,David at Frida, Fernando at Piaf and all the servers at Azul esp Renne and Jaino Dorantes.
