Read most of the reviews before staying at the Punch Bowl.

My wife and I stayed in Hebblewhite, apart from the small tv that only had one channel (my wife thought that was a blessing) the rest was superb, service, staff, rooms, everything, we will retrun in the future and will recomend strongly.

We had the chance to have a look in most of the other rooms, all of them are of a really high standard, Danson looks fantastic as it has the views, the smaller rooms are well furnished although the beds do look small in comparison.

The suite is to die for !!

Wow, what a lunch! We were on our way to Kendal when we stopped off at the Punch Bowl. It’s in the middle of nowhere which makes it even more special, along windy country roads.
We sat in a smallish room around the corner to the right as you go in - all the tables were full. It was a great cosy atmosphere.
Food was fabulous with rustic presentation.
The star of the meal for me was a starter of macaroni with cheese with truffle - it was incredible!!!! My husband had the white bait which he thoroughly enjoyed too.
Yum, we will be back and this time I will leave room for desert!

It's the little extra touches that make the difference between a good and an excellent stay. From the moment we arrived we loved this place. 3 friends celebrating a special birthday - the staff remembered to say Happy Birthday! The rooms are fabulous, all individual but all to the same high standard. Pieces of "found" furniture make them extra special. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms lush - all with free standing bath and shower stall plus thick plush towels. Bliss. Staff were attentive and friendly. Dinner was wonderful - portions not too huge so we could enjoy desert. Breakfast a feast of local produce.
No tea/coffee facilites in room was disappointing for me (an insomniac) and the early morning tea ordered by my friend never arrived - the only criticism I have. Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: be specific when you book - they'll tell you all about the rooms if you ask! weekday rate is cheaper than weekend

My Wife, myself and two other couples stayed here for two nights on the 12th of November 2011. Our room was the Cooper room which was beautiful and a fantastic view. We had dinner that night and there was a little confusion over the wine for our first course but we let that one go. Breakfast was just the ticket and set us all up for a days walking. When we got back, tired and thirsty we sampled the real ale at the bar which was really welcome. A previous reviewer has said there were no tea/coffee facilities. That's true but all you need to do is phone down to reception and hey presto coffee for two seated at our bedroom window taking in that view. All in all we all had a wonderful two days and will be coming back.

Room Tip: The Cooper room has a great view.

Loved the chic style of the rooms, with lovely touches sych as complementary home made biscuits, classic fm on in the room in the retro digital radio, afternoon tea with homemade scone included in room rate, fab cooked to order breakfast, amazing huge free standing bath, boutique toileteries. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and the best souffle I've ever had. Only negative was that our room was by the road, but we had been told this and it was reflected in the price. Really lovely.
