“Love this Place”

we love staying here and return again and again although we still haven't found which room to stay in - last visit room was above the kitchens and way too hot!! food lovely, waiting staff friendly and overall a good experience.

Room Tip: make sure it isn't above the kitchens - they overlook the church!!

Read most of the reviews before staying at the Punch Bowl.

My wife and I stayed in Hebblewhite, apart from the small tv that only had one channel (my wife thought that was a blessing) the rest was superb, service, staff, rooms, everything, we will retrun in the future and will recomend strongly.

We had the chance to have a look in most of the other rooms, all of them are of a really high standard, Danson looks fantastic as it has the views, the smaller rooms are well furnished although the beds do look small in comparison.

The suite is to die for !!

Wow, what a lunch! We were on our way to Kendal when we stopped off at the Punch Bowl. It’s in the middle of nowhere which makes it even more special, along windy country roads.
We sat in a smallish room around the corner to the right as you go in - all the tables were full. It was a great cosy atmosphere.
Food was fabulous with rustic presentation.
The star of the meal for me was a starter of macaroni with cheese with truffle - it was incredible!!!! My husband had the white bait which he thoroughly enjoyed too.
Yum, we will be back and this time I will leave room for desert!

It's the little extra touches that make the difference between a good and an excellent stay. From the moment we arrived we loved this place. 3 friends celebrating a special birthday - the staff remembered to say Happy Birthday! The rooms are fabulous, all individual but all to the same high standard. Pieces of "found" furniture make them extra special. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms lush - all with free standing bath and shower stall plus thick plush towels. Bliss. Staff were attentive and friendly. Dinner was wonderful - portions not too huge so we could enjoy desert. Breakfast a feast of local produce.
No tea/coffee facilites in room was disappointing for me (an insomniac) and the early morning tea ordered by my friend never arrived - the only criticism I have. Highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: be specific when you book - they'll tell you all about the rooms if you ask! weekday rate is che...

The Punch Bowl was recommended to us on the basis of its friendly staff and good food. We booked one night on 27th November and weren't disappointed. The room (Cooper) is lovely with a great view and the chocolates were appreciated! I don't mind the absence of tea/coffee making facilities in the room, it's too much "faff" and I detest both instant coffee and those plastic pots of milk anyway. I much prefer room service.

My only tiny gripe was that the pine chest of drawers looked at bit out of place with the rest of the furniture in the Cooper but if that's the worst that can be said then it's not much of a complaint really.

We'll certainly go back here again and plan to check out the sister hotel in Lupton too.

Room Tip: We arrived before any other guests had checked in and all the doors were open to the rooms so I had...

Thank you for your lovely review and we look forward to welcoming you back soon or at our sister property, The Plough. We make sure our guests receive the personal touch hence why we always ensure that freshly prepared teas and coffees are available - and we think this also tastes much better too!
