Staff were nice, grounds and common area are very pleasant. Food is ok, though breakfast is expensive for what it is; lots of lower quality food. However the evening meal desserts are really reallt good!

Onto the room then: at first look it is really nice, lots of nice decor and a large bath tub with jacuzzi jets. However on closer inspection the matress was aweful, only out matched in its uncomfortableness by the pillows which were about as useful as not having pillows. The bed also creaked so much that if you or your patner move the tiniest bit in your sleep you will both wake up.
The jacuzzi jets on the bath tub are powered through the drain system which means it makes a god aweful gurgling noise everytime they fire meaning after 5 minutes you just turn them off and enjoy a bath.

You might think "ah well they have a proper jacuzzi downstairs" but you would do better to not bother. The jacuzzi downstairs has very powerful jets but is heated to about 28ºc by my guess, slightly warmer than the pool, oh and the jets shoot out ice cold water...

Overall for the price it was a massive disappointment. I would say it is worth about £30 a night max. If they sort out thre beds then I reckon £80 would be the max.

Dear Siridean2,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are very surprised to read your comments, which are not representative of a stay here which is borne out by the many great reviews that we have on these pages. We are very disappointed that we were not allowed the opportunity to rectify any of your concerns during your stay. Our reception team is incredibly helpful and had they known of the issues with your jacuzzi, they would have been able to assist you immediately. Equally, the pillows could very easily have been replaced had they known.

Thank you again for your review. The specific points raised will be discussed at our next staff meeting as all feedback is welcome and any concerns raised will be investigated.

Regards

We have just returned from a 3 night break over Christmas at this hotel. What a wonderful time we had. The room was very clean and well presented, the gift of chocolates and chutneys was a lovely thought. What can I say about the food?? It was well cooked, delicious, beautifully presented and plenty of it. The staff were so accommodating, friendly and so so helpful, thank you to all the guys that served us in the bar area, you certainly had your work cut with all the dogs but you handled it very professionally. Huge thank you to Victoria, she is is a welcoming face every morning. The big bonus is dogs are allowed, we took our 2 labradors and they came down for meals with us every day. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, we will definitely be returning very soon.

Stayed last night for 1 night (04/12) in one of the four poster bed bedrooms. The room was a good size with a large bathroom that included a jacuzzi bath large enough for 2. The room was very clean with the usual TV, tea and coffee, biscuits and iron. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Full covid precautions in place. We did no use the swimming pool but my wife had a full body and head massage which she said was amazing. 1.5hrs for £50 worth every penny. We did not have an evening meal but had breakfast. This was served at the table with an excellent selection from cereal to vegetarian to the full English. We both opted for the full English which was delicious, the only thing that let it down was the pot of tea due to weak tea bags. My suggestion would be to offer a choice of teas including your bog standard typhoo. Other than that the stay was more than I was expecting and surely you must be pushing for your fourth star as 3 doesn't do you justice. I was last here 22 years ago when we had our wedding here and I am as impressed now as I was then. We only live in Kendal but it was nice to relive some happy memories.
Thanks Geoff

Stayed as a family of 5, my wife, 2 sons (26 & 23), one girlfriend and one well-behaved Airedale - 2 nights on return from Scotland holiday. First night late arrival (22:00 pm) which was accommodated following a quick call to advise. Open coal fire still burning which was a very welcome feature. Breakfast next morning was amazing value for money - £12.00 per person and the Full English was packed with high quality cooked ingredients as well as many other 'trimmings' such as cereals, pastries, juices, unlimited tea or coffee etc - very highly recommended. Room was spacious with beautiful views across fields. Gardens are extensive and beautiful. Spa facilities a nice addition - booked treatments also at very reasonable prices. This hotel is deliberately not modern and a tiny bit tired but this all adds to its charm. Being only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Bowness added to its great value for money. Definitely recommend

Set in a quiet lane 15 minutes from Windermere .
We stayed in a little cottage with 2 singles down stairs and Double up stairs . Really comfortable beds . Tea coffee facilities . Iron , ironing board . hairdryer , really comfortable rooms . Bath with shower over . Could do with curtain over window in there cos if blind is up people can see straight in no privacy .
And blind on front door as car park lights shine straight in very bright .
Lovely breakfast . Everything you could fill up on for £12 Per person. Cereal juice cooked full breakfast Vegan breakfast Toast pastries yogurt tea coffee But if you wanted just cereal that was ok to for less money .
We ate in the Bar Restaurant of night to which was also excellent , chicken, lamb shank, Burger, Fish chips . Desert good to . Can not fault .
Lovely and clean everywhere too . Good service and very friendly . Lovely little hotel .
Only thing wish there was parking spaces in car park . As one night some people had taken up two spaces to themselves . So we had a problem parking . But think Hotel is looking into this . Reception nice , but settees look tired and wasn’t particularly keen to sit on them ! Really nice place . Definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay
