A special place to stay! A grand feel, both inside and outside!
The lovely lounge, big, high ceiling, wooden panelled walls with large mirror. Very grand! A large modern tv in the lounge, dvd player and video player with videos to choose from off the big bookcase. The bookcase hid the passageway to the kitchen and bedroom. A cosy doubled bedded bedroom, with enough room to accommodate the fold-out bed. A well utensil stocked functional kitchen to cook your own meals. A bathroom big enough to comfortably move around in.
A communal seating area contained a pool table which we happily used a few times and there is even a piano should you wish to play.
If I wanted to picky, then yes, some TLC needed in some areas of the kitchen and bathroom. But then who spends their time away on holiday to be in a kitchen or bathroom?! And it can feel a little cold so you need to put the heating on which is a small extra charge......though the snug blankets provided add to the cosiness of the place!
But a whole apartment, use of communal area, grounds and spa entrance for the same price of a room in a hotel!.........you can't complain about that. Couldn't believe we got so much for what we paid!
And it's only an easy half hour drive to Kendal, the beginning of The Lakes, so a great base.
Overall - definitely well worth it!

“beautiful”
Reviewed 20 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

Stayed here 13/14th December for the weekend. This is one of the suites in the great Orton Hall. It is a lovely place with a secret panel in the bookcase which leads to the bedroom bathroom and kitchen. The lounge is very cosy and it had been nicely decorated for Christmas.

The bed was very comfortable and there was everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. We went to the village christmas farmers market on the Saturday which was really nice and got some lovely goodies. The bathroom needs a bit of TLC but I understand there are going to be some refurbishments made.

We have stayed at Orton Hall before and the great hall is still as splendid as ever with its grand piano and pool table!

We really felt like the lord and lady of the manor. The grounds are beautiful and would like to stay in the summer when they would be even more so.
