We spent 7 days their . We had a great time. We enjoyed the beach, big waves and pool. Room was clean, service was excelent , food was good. Pool cleaned every night . Alcohol not served till 11 am. Pool area is off limits to food . We stayed in room 2203 which was probably our biggest complaint because it is too close to the lobby bar. So you cant sleep till the bar shuts down because of the music and people. Needs to have a sound proof door installed or turned into a storage room. Veiw is no good anyways out that room. But all things considered we had a great time and will be back next year.

Dear Mike B,

Let me say congratulations on choosing our resort to take a break, and I am happy because he lived a pleasant experience at our beach El Palmar and could visit other places outside our hotel that are just across the street.
It is also a pride to know that our great team of collaborators made it feel very good.
Your comments are of high value to us and have been shared with the team to reinforce the work in all areas of opportunity and to avoid this type of incidents in the future.

Been to a few places in Ixtapa and this was the best place for value right on the beach. Our friends had an ocean front room with a big balcony and hammock and we had a garden view! Downside of the garden view was that we were closer to the road and we could hear senior frogs pounding all night. When we return we are going for an ocean front. Staff were hit and miss but I guess you can’t expect them to like everyone all the time. Some guests are just not nice either. I think you get what you give - everyone treated us very good but we did not see them as friendly to all. Tips go a long way in showing you appreciate their hard work. Rooms were super clean, abundance of clean water and towels, and staff were always helpful if you had a need. Entertainment was great on the Mexican fiesta night. Grounds are well kept; no bugs or critters around. Head down the beach either way and get a massage for 25$ -nice professional and relaxing. Food- well breakfast and lunch real Good especially the fish tacos in the pool side restaurant. Supper was soso to not great ..they try to make it good but after a few tries we went to Zihuatanejo on one of the fun busses and hit Daniels on the beach by the basketball court - always delish, and lots of shopping - better pricing- and live music to enjoy. We never miss a trip to Hornitos for el pastor across the street from the Bodega as well. Back to the resort - it was secure clean and well worth the money. We took a Sunwing excursion from Vancouver which went silky smooth!

The location of this hotel is perfect - wonderful beach out front and located across the street from shopping and a wide variety of restaurants. Rooms are clean - but no fridges and not all rooms have balconies. Staff is wonderful and accommodating, however we had to refuse the first rooms that were presented to us. We travelled as a family with our 2 daughters and we were given rooms in 2 separate buildings. They were able to accommodate adjoining rooms after we refused to take the first rooms. Pool view rooms are great, however if you are by the family pool it will be very noisy! It didn't bother us that much as we were not in our rooms often.

Food is average at best - breakfast is great and lunch at the snack bar restaurant is good but it has a limited menu. The buffet was - well - average. We tried the only a la carte restaurant, but they only have a few items on the menu. We ended up going out for supper most nights - which wasn't a huge deal since there was such a great variety of restaurants across the street.

Thursday, friday, saturday becomes very very busy with local tourists staying with family. Lots of kids/families in the pools and beach areas. We looked forward to the saturday fiesta after reading all of the reviews. The entertainment was good, but the food still was not fantastic. It all tasted the same, so we ended up going across the street to have a late night supper.

So if you are looking for a reasonably priced clean hotel on a nice stretch of beach - this is it. (there's a Dominoes right across the street if you need it...)

Read a lot of reviews prior to booking the Ixtapa Holiday Inn Resort.....here is ours.
Checking in was quite quick, a Friday, a holiday weekend, the front desk staff did really well, the people cutting in front of other guests waiting?????
Booked a twin room (two beds) last minute but upon arrival noticed a lot of local Mexican families in line so...I just mentioned that is was only my wife and I, if they wanted the twin room for families we could use a king if it worked for them....well up to the top floor, ocean view, closest to the elevator, awesome!!!!
Could go on and on....
Food was good most days, repeats itself (all buffets seem to) ala carte? (not so much), fresh grilled omelets for breaky (fantastic), lots of fish (nice)!
Drinks were tasty and cold.
Rooms were very clean well kept by our young lady, thank you for taking care of us)
People giving this place a bad review, may have their personal reasons, but it is a 3-3.5 star resort, don't come here expecting a 5 star place. Go pay for a 5 star then complain and whine all you want....
This is a great little place for the price you pay, the amenities you receive and the people that are sharing the resort with.
If we book Ixtapa again and want an all-inclusive, yup we will return.....

Room Tip: Book what you want, my review explains how we moved upstairs? ( We didn't care where we were except ocean view)

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Holiday Inn. Every staff member smiles and wishes you each morning. They are so very attentive and you can ask and they will do their best to help you any way they can.
The beach is just gorgeous and has the widest beach in front of the holiday inn with plenty of chairs. The weekends are busy with Mexican tourists but enjoyed seeing new people and meeting new people. The food was quite good in the resort and plenty available with a good variety...We never felt it was repetitious and really enjoyed the morning breakfeast with the best omelettes and fresh juice (many varieties ) each morning.
The Mexican fiesta night on Saturday was amazing and felt like we were in a bit Mexican city with the vendors and the wonderful types of Mexican food. The mexican costumes in the show were amazing.
The entertainment staff - Victor and Hugo were amazing and always tried to get you to participate and made our experiences fun and comical at times...They truly love keeping people happy. They did their best to keep us all entertained even with the hot weather.
We had a gardenview room and faced a beautiful palm tree landscape. The beds were amazingly comfy and loved sinking into my cosy bed after a very busy active day out on the beach.
If you wanted to shop, everything was within walking distance and no need to travel far at all. Again the beach was beautiful, waves a bit rough but boogie boarding definitely helped make it memorable.

I would highly recommend this hotel.. The staff were super and I will definitely like to return.

Room Tip: The gardenview room was just right for us as we were not in our rooms much and it was on the 2nd floor but still close to the pool.

Dear Iris D.
Thank you very much, for having chosen us to spend your vacation in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and it was not wrong as we have the best location with the largest property in the palm grove with the best sunset. It is very pleasant to walk in the 38 thousand square meters of the property, in the pools, in our restaurants, green areas, the warmth of our people and especially our wonderful climate.

We remain at your entire disposal waiting to receive you and greet you personally on your next visit.
