The service at this hotel was the worst, and is not at all representative of the hospitable and friendly people of Zacatecas. The view is nice, but not worth having to put up with the faces of clearly unhappy people who work at this hotel. The hotel is also FLOODED with Mexican Federal Police who apparently shares the same space as this hotel and who apparently house these people as well... the whole thing was quite strange. The Federal Police, carrying their massive machine guns, did not give me a feeling of comfort or tranquility as I'm walking by them with my two year old son.
The housekeeper did not clean our room, they just simply forgot.
The service at the hotel restaurant was hoooorrrrible, and even though breakfast buffet is from 6am to 10:30am, they don't have all the food out until around 10. So if you are there at 8am, forget about having bread, or many of the foods they have "planned" to offer. I didn't have my wallet and wanted to order food for my son who was starving, while my husband was in the city. The restaurant workers refused to serve me anything since I couldn't pay for it even though I was a guest at the hotel. The looked at me and questioned me as I was just trying to eat for free and leave without paying.
The rooms are noisy, smelly, and the curtains didn't close so the fluorescent light that they would turn on at night would light up our room at night.
I absolutely love Zacatecas, I will definitely be back but I refuse to ever come back to this hotel. NO THANKS! They should learn about customer service from local restaurants and the local people.
