We regularly stay at Anchorage. It’s the best beachfront accomodation we’ve found. The studio room is larger than most one bedroom units, it has a kitchen, queen bed, couch and dining area as well as a full sized bathroom. All balconies have sea views and you sleep with the ocean waves in the background.Damian and Leanne are wonderful hosts and the place is always beautiful. Will definitely be back.

Staying at Anchorage meant so much to us. I have been housebound and partially bedridden with a severe fatigue illness for over a year and we took a bit of a risk going there as I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it to the beach.

But the rooms being so close to the water made it possible, and it was incredibly therapeutic to be able to swim and just breathe in the fresh sea air.

Our unit was spacious and clean with a great view of the water. The proprietors are lovely and accommodating, and the food at the attached cafe - Stan's Chicken Shack - had incredible chicken burgers and melt-in-your-mouth sweet potato fries.

I felt a real difference after our return, and we hope to be able to make it back as much as possible.

It was a wonderful beach retreat and we are very much looking forward to our next visit!

Firstly, for best value call the proprietor direct as his price offered was substantially lower than booking websites. The setting here is stunning with a view beyond the complex's boardwalk, through the melaleuca's to the broad white sands of main beach. All apartments afford a view. Our room was spacious and clean, the queen bed was comfy. Furnishings and fitout were somewhat dated, though I suggest this was factored into the room price.

Fantastic location, so close to the beach, clean and well managed. We came to Straddie intending to stay just two nights at the Anchorage, ended up staying for six and don’t really want to go home :-)
Apartments are on the small side and the building is not that young but every thing works well and when you can just walk out your door and cross a short boardwalk through the paperbarks to the beach , who cares.

The accommodation here is no frills and a bit dated ,but the rooms are clean and the balcony is spacious enough for 2 adults. Our balcony had one comfy seat so we fetched any from bbq area.
Reception were very friendly and helpful.
Walking distance from the gorge walk if you are reasonably fit but bus stops right outside.
Not a huge choice for eating within walking distance but we enjoyed a dinner at the bowls club which gives a bright and friendly welcome.
All in all a perfect stay for a couple of nights but lacks the comforts for much longer
