We stayed at Jocelyne's condo for 6 days in early April(yes, 6 days - too short!) and truly enjoyed it.
The condo is perfect for 2 and will accommodate 4. It is best described as comfortable, convenient, well equipped and clean. The complex is made up of a friendly, mature crowd.
We chose to eat out evenings with there being so many fantastic restaurants/bars(quite reasonably priced) within walking distance. You could certainly cook many meals there though, since the kitchen has everything you would need.
The beach is only a couple of blocks away and the area is safe and clean. If the walk seems too far for getting downtown, the "Urbano" bus can be used and the stop is only one block from the condo.
Three pools are available and each has its own "personality"(two are quite refreshing and one warmer).
La Comer(similar to a Wal-Mart) is just a short walk as well, for any groceries you might need.
Overall, a great, very relaxing vacation. Abundant sunshine at the pools and beach!
Thank you Jocelyne, for sharing your slice of paradise.
We truly enjoyed our stay in Los Cabos and part of that is due to this lovely accommodation and responsive owner and property manager. It's a one BR with pull out couch in the LR-ideal for couples. It is small--a bit over 600 sf--for a condo, but a hotel would call that a "suite" and charge you plenty. There is a very nice pool literally 20 steps from the front door. About a block away is the main drag--and across that road are the large resorts sitting upon the beach with the crowds and commotion. We found this place a very peaceful place to spend the night allowing us to see sights as we wished.
One factoid we learned is that the beaches you can walk to from the condo and those you would have at your disposal if you stay a resort--are not swimmable. They have strong riptides. So you need to take a drive (or a bus) to the beaches anyway and the nicest ones are about 10 miles away---car recommended. The issue of needing a car is probably the only one where I felt the owner's advice that one was not needed may not be correct.
The condo is well stocked with linens and kitchenware and beach towels and beach toys like boogie boards. For those staying a while, there is also a washer and dryer though we did not use them. There is also a nice back patio with table which was great for having breakfast. The condo is also close to "La Comer" the most amazing grocery store I have ever seen. I recommend it on the list of "attractions". Wi-fi worked well and our son watched a couple of Jocelyn's movies--she has a nice collection on the TV (no cable/satellite).
BTW, if you are Canadian, extra bonus, this condo complex is swarming with your fellow countrymen and countrywomen!
It was very hot when we were there and because of that, I think walking to downtown SJ was not realistic. We did rent a car and I recommend that you either rent one at the airport or strike a deal with the owner to rent her car bc you will want one to go downtown, to Cabo San Lucas or one of the swimmable beaches.
Jocelyn also has written up a tour guide for the area which we found excellent. It could use more embellishment perhaps, but it was so much better than the books one can find online or at Amazon.
So you know who you are. If you like 24/7 service, and all that goes with a resort, you probably are not reading this review and this condo is not for you. But if you like the slow pace of having breakfast (that you prepare yourself) on a golf course facing patio, 20 steps to the pool and the option of seeking out the crowds when you want them at a very fair price, I recommend this condo 100%!
Don't forget the rental car.
The owner Jocelyn was phenomenal to deal with! She is very open, honest and offered me many tips and insights with my vacation at her property. I would HIGHLY recommend this property!
It was our first time in this part of Baja California. We experienced a most beautiful drive from charming Todos Santos, through the majestic mountains, with a stunning view of the Gulf of California (formerly Sea of Cortez). It's a fun walk to old town San Jose where you'll find a great variety of restaurants and bars. The supermarket is also very close. The beaches and the wonderful estuary were minutes away by foot. We enjoyed the tranquility of the condo and would stay there again. Thanks to Jocelyne, the owner, we were most comfortable and had everything we needed.
We stayed at the condo for about a week in Dec – Jan (2 adults and 2 kids). The grounds around the condo are beautiful and well taken care of. The condo was perfect for our needs. Not too big, but the use of space is excellent. Also, as our kids said, ‘It feels like home.’ We liked the Mexican décor. We also used the provided beach chairs, cooler, and other beach stuff pretty much every day. The Wi-Fi connection at the condo was very decent (32 mbps down & 24 up). No problem connecting multiple devices. The IP address though is recognized as Mexican, so keep in mind that some apps like Pandora may not work on Wi-Fi. Youtube and email was fine. We also had a T-Mobile cell plan that worked across US/Canada/Mexico without any additional fees, which is very convenient. You have you GPS/maps and unlimited streaming while on the road. If you are with T-Mobile, ask them about that plan/service before you go.
I am the type of person who plans everything ahead of time, and Jocelyne’s guide to Cabo was a great and comprehensive resource for our visit planning. We rented the car (Honda CRV) from the owners, and it worked really well for us. The car is not new, but it runs perfect. It allowed us to explore some interesting and exciting places within 1-2 hour drive away. Riding ATVs in the canyon and along the beaches at Los Barriles was awesome! We rented from Octavio & Sergio brothers (their contacts are in Jocelyne’s guide), initially for 4 hours, and then for another 2. Great deal and equipment. Feeding the fish with frozen peas at Chileno beach was very memorable too. Kids also enjoyed surfing lessons with Costa Azul (assisted surfing makes it really enjoyable, if you are doing it for the first time). As far as restaurants, The Hangman in San Jose del Cabo was a clear winner: great authentic food, great value, great atmosphere. We went there for 3 dinners :)
Overall, we are very satisfied with all the offerings and would consider renting from Jocelyne again.
