I have to say that we were very pleased with the Playa Grande. Overall, it was pleasant, clean, decent food, and the employees were helpful for the most part. I never expect perfection from anything or anyone. Along with the positive there is always some negative. We had room service a couple of nights and the food was very good. A little expensive. But, what do you expect from any resort. We had a couple of issues with our toilet not flushing properly. But, housekeeping was on it promptly. I broke a glass bowl in our room (sorry Playa Grande). They were there to clean it up quick and with a smile. Most importantly, I/we were not hassled by the timeshare staff. I said no two times and they never looked my way again. Unlike Melia Turqusa and Mayan Palace.
As a small business owner I prefer to spend my money on a smaller level that puts my money directly in the hands of other small business owners. So we ate at the marina for the majority of our meals. And we were always happy with our food. Try the cheese nachos at the "Bite Me" bar. And definately have breakfast at "Cavendish Tavern." Their orange juice is like none other I have had. Both are at the marina.
Now speaking as a person with a disability (legally blind) I try to be aware of the accessible features of the places I stay. In no way is the Playa Grande handicap accessible. I know the ADA means nothing to other countries other than the US. You need to be glad you live here. In no way could anyone in a wheelchair get around the grounds. With the steep inclines and numerous steps.

With all this being said. I wouldn't hesitate staying there again.

Room Tip: I don't think any room is a bad room. Persons in a wheelchair or trouble walking should probabl...

My husband and I and our 2 daughters (aged 7 and 9) have just spent 6 nights at Playa Grande. We found the facilities to be good for a family. Great pool areas and nice and a beautiful beach for walks. The room we had was a one bedroom with a king in the bedroom and fold down queen sofa and murphy bed in the lounge. This worked quite well. Lovely kitchen and large deck. We were in a room on the ground floor so even though they told us upon check-in we had a view, we didnt! Daily room service was ok although you never knew when they were going to turn up and one day they didnt! We had to ring to get clean towels etc. Good location to marina, about a 10 minute walk but wouldnt recomend it if you have children in strollers as it is a steep hill. A good place to stay for a family but wasnt super impressed.

We are owners at Playa Grande and have never regretted our investment there. Our daughters (now 5 & 9) have practically grown up there and we love that the resort is kid-friendly. We a huge fans of Kid's Club - especially Viridiana who is as creative, joyful and hard-working as they come.

First off I have to say the property itself was amazing. You can see my ratings of the individual categories. I was impressed by the bellhop staff who still remembered me by name two days later when I passed back out the front doors! The location is excellent, a short walk to the marina/pier/restaurants. The drinks were a little overpriced at the resort (would prob do all inclusive if it were just the wife and I without the kiddos), but the happy hour rotated throughout the bars in the resort so you could normally find a fare price. Mario at the Terra Sol resort next door (towards the rocks) has a great restaurant on the beach with AMAZING food and drinks at 1/2 the prices of Playa Grande. Check him out for sure!!

**Explanation on the Queen Sofa (The Queen "Sleeper Sofa" is not a pull out bed as what that normally describes. The bottom sofa seat cushions actually fold outward on to a hard platform that pulls out from under the couch itself. It was very uncomfortable even for a couple of kids who are used to camping out o the ground.. beware.)

Aldo at the Concierge was amazing!! All of the staff was very friendly and helpful with the exception of Hugo at the front desk who had a very poor attitude when we were trying to get more information on how living room queen couch worked (didn't realize there was a platform beneath so initially the cushions folded out at a slope). Instead of explaining what we needed to do, he was extremely irritated and told us the other option was a 2 bedroom at $450 a night... lol... considering it rents for only 3 more points a week, I'd think that was a bit extreme of a price +. The rest of the staff was very gracious though. Overall we'd be happy to stay there again, but if you're traveling with more than two people, go for the 2 bedroom.

We had a great time and I would recommend anyone to look to upgrade. It is worth it!
Hector who works pool side in the Adventures kiosk is a fabulous travel advisor. We took his advise and he was "on point" every time. We would recommend the Mexican Fiesta.

When you hit town, go to Poncho's. Say hello to Chuy!! Ask for his table up front near the bar.
Great Mariachi's Music.

Stephanie in the Adventure photo booth did a great job and was well worth the money.

Room Tip: 1501 Awsome Suite.
