“My new home away from home in beautiful San Miguel de Allende”

My friend Elena found this 2 bedroom 2 bath casita and I'm so glad we jumped on it and booked this place. Why? First, it was so wonderful to have a full house to return to when staying on one city for a week. This place is located on the top floor of a two story building that houses to separate residences. SMA is a beautiful, safe little city and the location of the casita was an easy 5 minute walk to the Jardin, the central plaza. The location was quiet by SMA standards which means one could still hear church bells ringing or fireworks intermittently. You have to take into consideration that there are lots of churches in the city and fireworks are fairly common. The entry is very private and the casita itself is set well off the street in a private courtyard. We had access to the rooftop garden and were visited on and off by the resident cat, Horchata. Being animal lovers, it was great to have someone to pet and Horchata is a very sweet cat. Melissa warned us that she would visit us if our doors weren't closed, but the fresh air was wonderful and we welcomed Horchata with open arms.
Although we were told the housekeeper would clean three times a week, we found that there was tidying up done every day and I was impressed by the cleanliness of the place. The kitchen is well stocked and each bedroom has its own full bathroom. The only appliance we needed (and brought) was a small travel flat iron.
The casita is well furnished with all the comforts of home plus a beautiful floral arrangement in the living room. The only thing missing is a clock, which was good because we were on VACATION and it was great to get up whenever and not be bound by having to be anywhere at any certain time.
Melissa, the owner, was very helpful in telling us about restaurants and other places of interest and she also had a well-stocked library of books about San Miguel de Allende. I have mixed emotions about writing such a positive review because this place will only become more popular as word gets out. We met new friends who were staying in a "green" B&B, paying more for their one room plus bath than we did for our whole casita. They were very impressed with our digs and we are talking of returning and renting out both casitas next year.

“Nice”

Lovely cool, spacious apartment rental. Melissa had a huge bouquet of fresh flowers that greeted us with orchid perfume every time we came in. she also helped us with travel arrangements from/to our airports. Her housekeeper made up the apt everyday. We did not use the kitchen much but I can see it being helpful for longer stays (we were there for 6 days).
It is in a central location where you can walk to the city center or take a taxi pretty much anywhere. The city itself was much busier than I expected. Tourism is one of the main economies of San Miguel & I found out it tends to be busier starting August to April. I recommend visiting nearby Guanajuato if you can.

Casa de las Divas is a hidden gem, this was our first trip to San Miguel and the location in the Centro Historico was a perfect base to explore this magical city. Our Casita was charming, the patio a beautiful oasis & the daily maid service an unexpected treat!!! The owner was very helpful in guiding us to many services, great tour guide , with updates on what was happening in San Miguel & where to have delicious breakfast! Hoping to return to Casa de las Divas again!!!

“Wonderful stay in the Upper Casita”

My husband and I stayed here with our oldest daughter over the week of New Year's. It was perfect. The rooms are spacious, decorated nicely and clean. The roof terrace was like having a extra outdoor room with a view. Melissa was great with giving us a recommendation for a driver from the airport and very helpful with any questions we had. The location is great because it's within walking distance of everything, yet far enough away from the plaza that it was peaceful. Thank you Melissa!

Can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. And Melissa is the ultimate hostess, running to get us when a small parade went by and many suggestions on where to eat. I read the post from the person about a mouse. That's ridiculous, the resident cat, who is adorable and will gladly come into your casita if you invite her would not put up with that. We were there over Thanksgiving and it was delightful.
