“Just a wonderful place in the world”
Reviewed 6 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We were fortunate to stay at La Ranca after being referred and it was a fantastic experience. From the beautiful and rustic residence we overlooked both a castle and a golf course which made for a brilliant view in the Umbrian countryside. Our hosts, Chrissie and David, mentioned we should actually try the golf course dinner which proved to be one of our favourite food highlights of our Italian trip. Chrissie and David who manage this property along with their own were truly generous and special hosts who have a spectacular property of their own with a pool to die for during the Italian summer. La Ranca was tremendous, offering all the rustic charm, though fully appointed at the same time. Can't wait to get back!!

“Spectacular views and peaceful surroundings”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Had a wonderful short stay at Ranca. Comfy beds, gourmet kitchen and a view to die for. Would be perfect for the golfer in the family as just a hop step and a jump to the course with a clubhouse that welcomes the casual visitor and serves up great food as well. Good base for exploring this fascinating part of Italy always knowing that at the end of the day you have a fantastic place to return to. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful rural farmhouse off the beaten path”
Reviewed 13 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Chrissie the manager was great to deal with during reservation process, and even more so when we got lost coming to the property, sending her husband to meet us. The house is out in the Umbria countryside, about a 30 minute drive north of Perugia, and a great central location for visiting other hilltop towns in Tuscany and Umbria. While there, we visited Arezzo, Spello, Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Chiusi, Montone and Civita. The house is actually attached to another house, but we never saw or heard the other neighbors. You enter into the living room, from which you go down 4 steps to the kitchen and garden. Up 8 steps to the first landing is the first bedroom and attached bath, and up to the second landing is the second bedroom with a hall bathroom. Bathrooms were nicely outfitted, good hot water, large. There is a tv with mostly italian channels, but who really wants to watch tv when on holiday? The garden had a table and chairs, grill and extra slingback chairs that overlooked a beautiful golf course and castle (currently wrapped in scaffolding under renovation). The property is very secure, but that also means locking extra gates and having to unlock gates when coming and going. We ate a pizza one night down at the clubhouse and had a lovely conversation with Anka, the bartender. All in all, we would definitely return and this was a great change of pace from the other city settings we enjoyed on our holiday.

“Active rest, discovery and great vacation”
Reviewed 8 April 2014 for a stay in September 2013

Rest, refresh and discover, La Ranca has it all. Being in the country and looking over a golf coarse, with a Castle is delightful. This villa is old with good facilites and comfort. Surrounded by lovely gardens, reading, having a drink or simply taking in the view and quiet is pleasure always. Umbria is understated pleasure. Enjoy visiting hilltop towns to immerse in history and the works of art, architecture and friendly people. Discover the food markets, local restaurants, wine and so much more. Time will fly, you will smile and laugh, and leave rested, wanting to return.

“Great value for money”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Beautiful spot. Great for soaking up true Italian lifestyle. We wanted a central spot that would suit day trips. If you have a car it's very easy to explore local villages. We parked the car at train station and caught train to larger places like Florence, not very brave driving in big smoke. We've booked in again to bring another couple that are keen golfer's (and red wine drinkers). Lots of good times, thanks again.
