We were staying at the Westin, so this was convenient. We had been to other Sandoval restaurants and liked them, but I expected one in a resort area to be overpriced.

The menu offered a $30, 3-course option. We tried it, and it was awesome.

My soup for first course was a giant bowl, not a little cup.My husband's salad was the size of an entree at some places.

Second course was good, also nice portions.

Then dessert, but neither of us had any room after so much food. The fried ice cream looked like it was made for 3 people.

And everything was good, hot and fresh. Sandoval is creative, not just drippy cheese and refried beans.

Service was attentive, but it was slow. It seemed like it took forever to get each course, and then even longer to pay the bill.

There is lots of outdoor seating looking out on Beaver Creek ski runs, and the tequila options are impressive if you like that.

We recommended it to others at the hotel, and we would definitely eat there again.

We were staying at the hotel and we tried MAYA for breakfast and for dinner. Breakfast was fantastic, but dinner had some issues.

BREAKFAST
-Great light/bright atmosphere with stunning views of the mountains outside.
-Service was extremely friendly. Nick, our server, was fantastic. He made an extra effort to be warm and welcoming. He kept refilling our coffee and asking if there was anything else we needed.
-Buffet was very extensive and everything on it was fresh and well-prepared.
-A la carte options were good as well. I liked that they incorporated some of the Mexican features of the restaurant into elements of some of the breakfast dishes.

DINNER
-We had an odd experience with the hostess, who seemed surprised that we had only recently made our dinner reservation (that night). We didn’t see why that was relevant—plus the place was half empty.
-We were shown a nice table and were ready to relax with a couple glasses of wine. The waitress carded us. We’re both 35 years old and this is very unusual. My friend explained he left happened to leave his ID in the room, but could go get it. The waitress said that wasn’t necessary. But then the same hostess from before seemed to intervene and they only brought us out one glass of wine! The waitress basically had to sneak the other glass of wine to us. This was all pretty crazy and embarrassing—especially considering we were both clearly of age. Way more drama then we needed!
-Guacamole was made table-side. It was very good—however a warning—we asked for spicy and they made it SUPER spicy. I love spice, but this was basically a 1:1 ratio of avocado to hot peppers—a bit much. The guacamole-maker was Argentinian and super friendly though.
-Quesadillas were just okay. We also had to pay separately for rice and beans (which is unheard of in my mind!)—and then to add insult to injury, the rice was inedible—completely undercooked, crunchy and getting stuck in our teeth.
It honestly was a very disappointing experience (especially for the money) and I would not go back for dinner.

Excellent table side made. Serving staff was friendly. It took a long tome between courses? We unfortunately ate too many chips while waiting which filled us up too much, such that we didn’t have room for main meal.

Upscale Mexican can often be an oxymoron, but Maya definitely pulls it off. Their tequila collection is top notch, the margaritas vary from sweet to spicy, and the food is different than any restarting in the area. Tired of pizza or steak? Give this place a try. Our favorite part is the live music right outside the restaurant entrance . Sit by the fireplace and enjoy music and a drink before or after your meal!

We were able to get a table in the bar area, which is first come first serve, as we did not have a reservation. We were a little worried at first, but the way it is set up it was totally kid friendly. One side note - the stools in this area are terribly uncomfortable because the foot rest sits way too low, which leaves your feet dangling - even my husband's. Our server was great - pleasant, helpful & attentive. The decor and ambience were very nice. The queso fundido was great and served over a warming candle. The guacamole was tasty as well. Our family enjoyed tacos, enchiladas, and carnitas - all very good. The margaritas were also quite good! We would certainly recommend it.
