Love the location, with a few steps you are on the beach! Where you can enjoy a nice lunch and good drinks, especially Miami vice (a 50/50 mix of pinà colada and strawberry daiquiri) be aware that they are strong and huge, easily buzzed ;-)
The bed was too hard for me and the room needs an upgrade, and the staff were very helpful and kind!

We are currently in the Pelicano Inn right now. Having read some of the reports i was apprehensive however, it is perfect for a lower budget hotel. The rooms are clean and large. Beds comfy and working aircon. Yes it makes a noise, but nowhere near bad enough to spoil your sleep. Staff are friendly. Location is right on the beach. I don't know what else some people expect.

We are room only so can't comment on the food but don't be put off by some reports on here. It us perfectly fit for purpose.

I'm not used to writing negative reviews. But, I can only be honest. Initially we were a little underwhelmed by the hotel reception and the room, but the view and location was OK. The property was lack lustre and quite basic, definitely not an upgrade to what you are used to at home. Breakfast was a little boring, the orange juice was revolting. After being served by a very friendly guy on the first day, we had the misfortune to be served by an incredibly rude sully waiter who was obviously only interested in tips. Having only just arrived we ordered two drinks on the beach earlier & offered the change (We were not savvy about the money at that stage) he waved it away as we had obviously insulted him. It was only about 30p, but it was the first drink we had bought. After that our cards were marked. When we got to breakfast early, he made us wait until other guests that arrived after us, had been served. On the last day he actually said "Thanks for your tip Mr" Obviously the only tip we would have given him, was to be pleasant and earn a tip by giving some good service.
We struggled with barely luke warm water with little pressure for several days. Washing your hair became an ordeal and we both didn't feel refreshed or clean in the shower. We mentioned it at reception, but there was no improvement. Obviously there couldn't be an improvement unless they have a major plumbing update.
They offered to change us to another room and to pay extra. We had really had enough by this point and had decided that we wanted to leave. This proved difficult, but after another horrible evening and hanging around in reception for over two hours. We eventually received a refund, but had to wait until the manager came with the money. She did not even speak to us and let the receptionist deal with the whole situation. The reception staff are put upon to deal with all complaints. which they do very civilly but they have no authority to make decisions.
We actually gave the receptionist a tip on our departure as she had done her best. Overall the place needs a major facelift to make it a 3*. There I said it. :(

Not so luxurious hotel at only 50m of the quinta avenida. No tv, no parking, very loud airco but clean, great free coffee in the morning, no further recommendations. Good price if you only want to sleep.

What a great hotel. Luis (front desk guy) was SO nice, and so helpful. And the staff in general were all very mannerly. The room is clean, but don't expect a luxury suite. They provide huge plush beach towels also. The air conditioner in the room was a blessing. Right on the beach, and bathrooms and a shower are also near the beach for your convenience. Security watches your things when you swim.
Right off the main 5th street, GREAT location. Highly recommend.
