“Very quaint Beautiful spot!!”

My husband & I stayed at Playacar Palace the 1st week of Feb/12 after staying 3 weeks at Hard Rock Punta Cana. We have visited all the Palace Resorts with only Isla remaining to try. Upon arriving at our room, my husband looked at me & said "Oooh, why did we move. I said, you wanted to visit all the Palace resorts & this is to be our golf week (Playacar has the best!). Well, that Oooh, was very short lived. Playa, being a smaller resort, we quickly could see had its charm, beauty & tranquility.

Food and service was exceptional. Our room was top floor & central with a beautiful view. The beach is really nice, not crowded and is just walking distance to ferry to Couzemel. The staff are top notch, so friendly and go above and beyond to please. Special thanks to Abagail, who was our representative, always with a smile and making our vacation run so smooth. Her and co-worker Nancy in Vacation Planning couldn't do enough to help us out. Also, thanks to Ana & Carlos who were bar staff happy, friendly & on the ball keeping us happy.

We very much enjoyed the small town of Play del Carmen, very clean & pretty town with colorful, lush vegetation. Shopping at little boutiques all walking distance. Golf & spa exceptional also walking distance or shuttle away. We enjoyed special dinner night with other Palace members, a perfect way to meet new friends & enjoy special taste treats. A separate event was Chef's Dinner night that also was fun, interesting and delight to watch the fine art & talent of our exclusive Palace Chef.

Special thanks to Mayra, who was only 5 days new to the staff at Playacar and had arranged a beautiful romantic jacuzzi with rose petals, wine & cheese tray evening. She was very helpful, kind, great smile & will be a great asset to the Palace team. Thanks also to Carlos and Ivan in Public Relations who were exceptional as well and always making sure we were well taken care of. We can't say enough about the staff at Playa. Overall, the amenities are all there and we enjoyed the quaint atmospohere & friendly people of a smaller resort. We are sure to return. Thank you all !!!

We've just returned from 12 days at the Playacar Palace for our son and daughter in laws wedding. The location was wonderful, the food and service were excellent. They chose to have their wedding on a terrace overlooking the beach and we thought that was much nicer than the ones we saw that took place on the beach - mainly because that gave personal privacy and some shelter from the sun. We would definitely return to Mexico and this hotel. Our only complaint was that on arrival (despite them knowing we were all booked for a wedding and the booking had been in place for 12 months) we were allocated rooms at the back of the resort overlooking a noisy building area. The bell boy told us people did not want to stay in those rooms but the hotel was full and they were using all rooms. We had a 24 hour battle to get moved - mainly to make sure the wedding couple were looked after as they had been promised a Superior Room. Eventually we were all moved but had to use Resort Dollars to bargain for sea views. We would know in future to use them again to do that as we would have not enjoyed our stay if we'd been at the back the whole time. The reception staff were unhelpful but their manager was very pleasant and accommodating. All the restaurant staff (particularly in the Italian which was wonderful) were very pleasant and helpful as were the entertainment and bar staff. The resort is only a few minutes walk from the bustling Fifth Avenue shopping and eating area and the ferry over to Cozumel.

Room Tip: Use resort dollars to upgrade for a sea view!

i by no means wish to critique the hotel itself, but would rather like to warn fellow travelers about the 'private beach' which is next to the public beach......the beach is absolutely stunning on both sides, but beware there have been many incidents where locals walk over from the public side and snatch the belongings of vacationers frolicking obliviously in the waters on the private side....if you are staying at the playacar palace or visiting it from one of the other palace resorts leave your stuff at the pool area or perhaps with conceirge....my husband and i had our bag snatched while snorkeling....we were visiting playacar for the day and our bag contained 1 credit card and change of clothes and other items to freshen up with....the beach seemed so laid back with other travelers and we didnt realize how close the other beach was till we reported the incident with the hotel and they told us what happens from time to time.

We spent 7 wonderful nights at PlayaCar Palace. The Weather, Food, Service was excellent. A special Thank You to Pedro (Mayan Coffee), Angel, Fania, Martha (our Pool Side Bar Gem) and Efran and all others who graciously made sure our stay fantastic. The Spa was second to none...Romantic Dinner on the Beach was a beautiful way to end our stay. This resort will always be a very memorable event for me.

Room Tip: Top floor, ocean view was breath taking. Elevators are extremely fast...
