The old house where the hotel is located, is lovely. But the best of “Piedra de Agua”, is its people: Congratulations to Arturo, Daniel, Jesús and Gabriel. The owner should be proud of you, your work, your responsibility and your smiles... Thank you all...!

Located in an old adjunct building part of the original church complex on the main zocalo plaza square of Merida, this hotel uses the old walls as part of it's restaurant and pool area. I have not stayed in the rooms but have been many times to the outdoor pool area and restaurant, where you can swim as part of the deal for eating and drinking there. From the restaurant you can see the old church lit up. The atmosphere and food are great. I can't couch for the hotel rooms only the staff, entry, lobby and pool.

I stayed at this hotel from October 17 to 23 2017 with a group of 20 Canadians. It is a small but lovely hotel 5 minutes away from the central Plaza of historic Merida. The staff was absolutely incredible, the food was delicious, the accompanying drinks (without alcohol) were AMAZING and the rooms were lovely. Some of them did not have windows but i found them rustic, plenty of charms and clean. The beds were comfortable and some rooms had balconies with views on the plaza and the beautiful cathedral. The staff was VERY understanding of our crazy schedules (we were there for shows) and would serve us breakfast even before the kitchen officially opened and serve us dinner well beyond 10pm. Also, some of our people were vegetarian and Jewish and they were always ready to make them food they could actually eat. Overall is was overly happy with our stay in this hotel

Building is nice but needs A LOT of maintenance. AC dripped during the night, there are no windows and, furniture needs to be replaced.... Our room even had broken electrical outlets. Pool was always closed and it is super small.
Location is great though, everything is within a walking distance.

Room tip: I think rooms on the front might have windows.

Beautiful building, but needs a lot of work to be considered boutique. Beds are very uncomfortable, AC breaks regularly, bathrooms need repair, towels are small and rough on skin, housekeeping comes regularly but inconsistently replaces the right supplies. Staff is excellent, food is excellent, free bottled water, cute shampoo and soap bottles in the bathroom, excellent water pressure and temperature, pool/hammock are is cozy and pleasant. I would recommend starting here with the caveat of the above issues. The staff, food and location of this hotel makes the stay worth it.
