“Excellent property, awesome location!”
Reviewed 23 March 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We stayed at this house for 9 days from Feb 29 to March 9, 2016. The house was excellent! The bedrooms were very spacious with good quality mattresses. The living room furniture was comfortable but we didn't spend much time in there. The dining room had seating for 6 people. The kitchen well stocked with dishes and cutlery. Really everything you could need if you wanted to prepare any meals. Most of our time was spent in the outdoor living area. It has a seating area (couch, chairs & coffee table) and a 4 person dining table all under a nice roof with lighting and fan if you needed it. The pool was well used during our stay and we were pleasantly surprised that it was quite a bit deeper (4 1/2 to 5 feet deep) than the pools at other places we've stayed.
We did have an issue with the hot water on our first day at the house but an email sent to Rosalinda was quickly replied to and someone was by to fix the issue the next day.
As mentioned in other reviews the property was close to Santiago Park and the AKI grocery store. A little further away was the main plaza. There seems to be something going on in at least one or two of the local parks every night of the week.
We would definitely stay here again when visiting Merida.

“Great choice in Santiago”
Reviewed 4 July 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed at Casa de Ambar for a week in January 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed the house and the location. This rental is located on a quiet street just three blocks from the Plaza de Santiago which is a pleasant place to do your shopping (there is a small market, a grocery store and a bakery close by) or just relax in the park or in one of the outdoor restaurants on the square. The Plaza Grande is about six blocks away and the main market a little further which can seem a little far at night but the walk is safe (albeit rather quiet) and taxis are plentiful and inexpensive.
The house itself really is an oasis of tranquility. Merida is a big city and everyday life can be noisy and hectic. It was great to be able to return to a tranquil, safe home with all the amenities you could need. We loved the back garden and relaxing by the pool even though it was a little bit cold in January. The kitchen is clean and has everything you need to prepare and enjoy your own meals (when you tire of the many great restaurants in Merida). The three bedrooms are comfortable and spacious each with their own bathroom. The design and décor is traditional Mexican which we loved.
There are many sights around Merida and the surrounding areas so you will want to spend at least a week to really get a taste of the Yucatan. This is a great spot to do just that.

“We stayed at the perfect house on our family vacation.”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Casa de Ambar was wonderful. It was comfortable and spacious. Beautifully designed and decorated. We were able to relax and hang out as a family as if it was our own home. I highly recommended it. It made our yearly family trip all that more memorable.

“Magnificent Merida”

What a wonderful home, it provided everything that we needed to make our stay in Merida absolutely wonderful. The location was perfect, the environment and atmosphere was fantastic. Everything we needed was there, the house is set up wonderfully and was ample room for five adults. If I go back to Merida there is no where else that I would stay. Also, special Thank you to Rosalinda, your information and assistance on our arrival was invaluable.

“Lovely house in Santiago”

This was a lovely place for our group of 4 to stay in Merida for two weeks. The pool is great and the kitchen was big enough and complete enough to cook for all of us. The decor is lovely.
The only drawbacks were 1) Only two of the three bathrooms are air conditioned, and 2) It's a bit of a hike to the Zocolo or Gran Mercado, especially when it's hot and humid. Making this manageable is that the Parque Santiago is only 4 blocks away, where there's a grocery store, a small market, and you can always get a cab.

Management Response
13 Jun 2014
The property changed ownership the day before these guests arrived and it was our understanding from the previous owner that there were only 2 guests, not 4, and that the 3rd bedroom referred to would not be used or we would have made arrangements to have A/C installed in that room.
It has since been installed and all 3 bedrooms are now air conditioned.
