This is possibly/likely my favorite place in Merida. With a meticulous feeling for details Casa Lecanda will please you from the very time you enter. The reception, the bar, the pool, the rooms, the staff. This is the way the run a boutique hotel.

We spent two nights at Casa Lecanda during our trip in Yucatan and Quintana Roo. This beautiful hotel is a renovated colonial house in Merida - behind the humble facade, what looks like a small house instead opens up on a spacious and luxury patio, overlooking a small garden and swimming pool.

We staid in a Patio room (Alejandro) - the room is elegantly furnished, with two comfortable queen beds, TV, minibar/fridge. The bathroom is very spacious, full of light and decorated with beautiful Mexican tiles, with a walk in rain shower and organic bath amenities. The continental breakfast, which we enjoyed in the patio, was very good, and a cooked breakfast is also available at a surcharge. In the evening the hotel bar is also open - we enjoyed the company of Rafael, the barman, who prepared for us his special tamarind Margarita.

Casa Lecanda is conveniently located in Merida's centro, a few minutes' walk from Plaza Grande and Paseo de Montejo. Before visiting we had liaised with Marcelino, the concierge, who had kindly booked for us a tour (provided by a local operator) to Uxmal and Kabah, which we really enjoyed.

Would highly recommend staying at Casa Lecanda.

What an incredible hotel....

As soon as you walk in you will understand why I say this, it is an oasis in the middle of busy and bustling Merida. Perfectly located as you are in the middle between Plaza Grande and Paseo de Montejo.

Spent 10 days in total touring around Mexico and Casa Lecanda had the most amazing breakfast I have ever had. Try the omelette!

Also the tamarind welcome Margarita was unbelievable.

Beautiful rooms and amenities, we had Balcony room and it was gorgeous.

Highly recommend!!!

This is a lovely boutique hotel with only seven rooms. We were upgraded to a Garden Suite, which made our short stay even better. As expected this had a king size bed, a sitting area and a bathroom that had a rain shower and a separate bath which was probably 1.5 metres square.
Merida was incredibly hot when we were there, so after sightseeing it was wonderful to come back to Casa Lecanda and have a swim in the pool and then lie in shade and read and/or listen to our music.
The Continental Breakfast was wonderful sitting outside near the pool.
As we are from Australia we’lI probably never be back in Merida but if so we’d certainly stay at Casa Lecanda.

Having travelled extensively across this great country, Merida is a fabulous hot spot - really wish I could run my business from this place - I'd move there and renovate an old Hacienda in a heart beat. Casa Lecanda is in fact a well established restored Hacienda and an incredible job they've done. It's safe, secure, and absolutely chic, in a stripped back relaxed manner. I stayed in 'Lucia' an upper floor suite at the back of the property, and it was gorgeous... so gorgeous. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms offer unique experiences.
