We had a wonderful week at Casa Lirio! Thank you, Rebecca for all of your awesome suggestions you gave us. Everything went smoothly - you connected us with a ride from the airport to the ferry, a taxi driver to pick us up at the ferry, and tons of other information along the way. Our lost luggage with United even made it the very next morning! We LOVED seeing the sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach at night. Truly remarkable. Casa de Los Suenos water park was a big hit for our kids (ages 6, 6, & 8) We also enjoyed the snorkeling at Garrafon de Castillas. Thomas the taxi driver you hooked us up with was so nice and Marcellino (property manager) was great too. Thank you for being so responsive with us as well as we were worried about Tropical Storm Franklin heading our way - so thankful it wasn't a big deal. We loved everything about the island and really feel like it helped our kids see the local people. We felt very safe and never were worried about getting sick, etc. We loved that the house was off the beaten path and tucked away in the trees down a dirt road. We did lots of exploring all week in the golf cart we rented and had a ball. Again, everything was great and we would love to come back sometime!
This house is amazing, just perfect for my family. My 6 year old son loved the loft bed, the fact it was in our room made me feel much more comfortable for our first nights rest. My mother in-law met us at the ferry terminal on day two to join us for our time there.
We all agreed, every day feels much longer in isla mujeres. We are going to return again.
We had so many beach days, adventures, and stories to come home with.
Im posting this via my phone, and all of my pictures are on my camera. However the pictures they have posted explain everything.
I recently stayed at Casa Lirio with my daughter and 2 1/2 year grandson for a week. It was a welcoming and homey environment away from the busyness of everything. When we needed a break we went back to it's quiet comfort.
The welcome book was thoughtfully put together with great information. We really appreciated it. We tried several of the recommended restaurants and we were not disappointed!
Rebecca was very responsive to any needs we had. Marcelino, the property manager, was also helpful and friendly.
If you want a quiet place to chill when you need a break, this place was great.
Having transportation was helpful since it is on the south part of the island. More than one cab driver had difficulty fiding the place. We would tell them near Hotel la Joya and direct them from there. We found it very advantageous to rent a golf cart to be able to come and go as we pleased with a child.
Thanks for sharing Casa Lirio with our family Rebecca. We really enjoyed our stay.
This townhome is tucked away in a quiet location away from the more touristy end of the island. A bit tricky to find at first. We rented a golf cart and could get to everything on the small island fairly quickly. I really appreciated that the owner was in constant contact with me when my suitcase was delayed by the airline. The home was equipped with everything we needed. My only disappointment was the lack of water pressure in the shower. Understandable given the island's water system. We really enjoyed our sunrise visit to nearby Punta Sur (only about 1/2 mile from the house).
to begin. We'd not been to Isla Mujeres since 1989. It's definitely changed, bigger, busier, some good, some not so good. I'll definitely be going back much sooner this time, especially after looking at how much Cancun has changed during the same period. Isla was better in 89 and the "betterness" over Cancun is even greater now..
Something about the vibe, people were, without fail, friendly, I didn't experience any "timeshare salespitch" type pressure....it's just a good place for a laid back vacation.
Casa Lirio.....it's all there in one package. There was nothing we could have wished for that wasn't there. It's not a huge place, but there was plenty of room and it was quite evident that you're sharing the owner's home. They've furnished and equipped to make themselves happy in the house and then they share it with the tenant. Quiet, kitchen complete and easy, wifi/TV/tunes perfect for the location and you're not sharing anyone else's space or noise.
We got mixed up and didn't get the recommended taxi on the way in and we got a little adventure (driver had to keep stopping and calling until we finally found the house) that got us in there after 9 pm. We looked around at the house quickly, changed into shorts, and went in quest of food and beer. We're walking up the little street in front and there were some guests at a house across the street outside "shootin' the breeze". They welcomed us and we asked if there was anything near to get food and beer. "Sorry, you'd have to take a cab back toward town". I'm getting bummed and "beergrumpy" and the lady tenant walks out with a bag with loaf of bread, samwich fixings, and a six pack of beer. They won't take payments..."It's just our welcome" and they saved our first evening and set the tone for the whole trip. My notion from this is that you can't ever overlook the value of a nice quiet friendly neighborhood.
Close to beach, restaurants, bars (OK you gotta figure it out a little earlier than 9 pm), but plenty far enuf away from the busy crazy of downtown Isla.. Price was right. Landlord was "on the spot" as far as responding to questions. House is well equiped, comfy, nothing that I can think of missing.
We were two people, I'd think 4 people (like family) would be fine but recognize that it's not a huge place. That, to me, made it better.
The top deck was a great place to view from, but we had wind most of the week so we didn't lay out upstairs, much more likely to sit on back 1st floor patio.
If you're not a "resort-disco-bar" person, this place should really draw your attention. It's a perfecto vacation spot.
