We had rented a golf cart and were following the mapchick map and took the recommendation to stop here. We got an ocean front sofa, were able to take a relaxing swim in this little slice of paradise while we waited for the kitchen to open. Drinks were good and the special cerveche with the soy, mango and other spices was amazing. They brought us a HUGE pile made from shrimp, lobster, scallops and fish and we devoured it. It’s not cheap but so worth it!

Mar-Bella is an open air Caribbean seafood restaurant that serves super-fresh seafood. Many of the seafood choices are still live or just recently arrived off boats from the adjoining dock. Service is attentive and warm.

In particular, try the clams with fresh ceviche and coctail sauce, the grilled hogfish filets, or a whole fish fried or with Tikinxic seasoning
Near the south point (Punta Sur), you will need a golf cart, taxi or car to get there, but with it's own beach alongside, you will definitely enjoy the experience. One thing to be aware of - Mar-Bella closes its kitchen at 8pm so best for lunch or an early dinner.

Definitely make time to eat there during your time in Isla

I made it a point to visit the restaurant as soon as I arrived on the island. The restaurant is a beautiful set-up with views of the water and you can even watch the sunset. I started with a the marbella margarita which was aesthetically pleasing , reasonably priced and tastey. I love chips and salsa and assumed it would be the best in México, I was wrong. Instead of serving the traditional corn tortillas, they served the black corn instead with fancy versions of watery thin salsa. I had the 6 shrimp served 3 ways. The coconut shrimp was underwhelming-it was shrimp fried in coconut pieces which was flavorless and still tasted like the ocean. YUK! If you're not going to season them, at least soak them in coconut milk to absorb the flavor before frying. The shrimp wrapped in bacon and cheese would have tasted a little better there wasn't so much cheese, all I tasted was cheese with a hint of bacon. The last was a spiced shrimp which wasn't as bad but needed a pinch of salt. The rice that accompanied the dish was good.
Overall, the price was reasonable, but the good was just average. I expected more based on the rave reviews.

What a gem this place is. Two doors up the Beach from the Palace Resort on Isla. We walked there along the amazing beach and were greeted by a wonderful and attentive staff. The sunset view was a great precursor to an amazing dinner. The Jumbo Shrimp were the best we’ve had on the island in 4 trips. Fresh Fish options are plentiful. I had Snook, which is a fun Fish to catch back home in Florida, but illegal to harvest. So when they brought out a whole one then butterflied and served it whole, I was in heaven. And it is VERY reasonably priced which was a pleasant surprise. What a great dinner. Our best of the week, so far!

We have been to many Mexican Seafood places but Mar Bella is out of this world.
Started with Shrimp Ceviche that was one of the best we have had. Deep Fried Red Snapper with 1/2 the 2 kilo fish pan baked. The very best ever
Belize was the best this was way better. To many servers to count
Miguel our main server went above and beyond. We had a nice white wine and finished with cigars on the beach patio. The atmosphere and views are spectacular. The Catajillo after dinner drink rivaled the best Cancun restaurants. C an't wait to come back
