This was our 10th or 11th visit to El Presidente. We really enjoy the casual friendly elehgance of this property. It is always spotless in the rooms or the grounds or the restaurants. Everyone always greets you witha smile. It is close to town(10 minutes by cab for $7) and yet it seems to be situated on it's own private island. Beach is great, the service for food or drinks is immediate. If you want a calm ,quiet, relaxing getaway with a simply beautiful setting, look no farther. This is the place we always compare to when we have gone to Caymans,Barbados, St. Thomas, etc and everytime we end up agreeing we wish we had gone to CZM instead. So, from now on-this will be our beach home of choice.

You have no idea just how great the Presidente InterContinental is until you explore Cozumel. Good thing there's a fence around the InterContinental. Inside, the grounds are perfect, the staff is pleasant and the atmosphere is muy tranquilo. In town, there are mucho amigos trying to sell you all manner of trinkets. And when the four to six cruise ships are in port, there's a mass parade of fatty-[-], fanny-packed cruis-a-dors that make you somewhat horrified to be an American.

The rooms at the Presidente are good sized, with air conditioning, a mini bar fridge, a functional bathroom, and a flat screen TV that should never be turned on, but is there if you feel you must.

The guidebooks say to avoid the all-inclusive resorts in Cozumel and I must agree. The food at the restaurants on the resort are good, and for 500 pesos, you can have a good meal for two.

Scuba-du, the on-resort dive company is excellent. We took a four-reef snorkel trip and a resort scuba class. I highly recommend you arrive with your own mask and snorkel. Who wants to be the 500th person to share a snorkel? Yuck! I had a perfectly good shorty wetsuit at home I wish I had brought. On the fourth reef of the four-reef snorkel trip, we were starting to get cold, but it wasn't that bad.

The beach at the Presidente is quite nice, and the snorkeling right there is quite good. Go to the southern most beach on the resort, walk down the northern most set of stairs, swim a few strokes toward the north, and observe all of the beautiful marine life around the sunken barge.

The staff is very friendly. If you make the slightest effort to hable espanol, it goes a long way. But the universal language is the almighty dollar. Bring plenty of singles and distribute them generously. It wouldn't be a mistake if you brought $100 in singles. When you take a taxi into San Miguel, it runs you around $9. So if you have singles, you can pay the exact amount, and not be stuck with pesos when the trip is over.

What was bad about the Presidente: Don't order the pasta in the restaurant on the beach. We're from Boston, where Italian food is almost a religion in the North End. Their version of pasta was not good.

What was great about the Presidente: beautiful beach, nice rooms, picture-perfect sunsets, nice staff, beautiful bar/restaurant, very good Scuba/Snorkel center that will please even the snobbiest divers.

We stayed at the Presidente in November (sorry for the late review) for a wedding and had a fantastic time. The hotel staff did a wonderful job with all of the wedding events. Everything ran smoothly and all the catered food was great.

Our hotel room was quite nice. Comfy beds and nice clean bathrooms. I thought the hotel as a whole was incredibly clean.

We ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel often and found the food to be very yummy. It is especially fun to order food and drinks out at the beach. They provide little umbrellas that you stick in the ground to flag down the waiters.

My only complaint about the hotel was the snorkel equipment. It was of good quality but they ran out incredibly quickly. The hotel was not that crowded and yet by 10 AM, no equipment any day. This is certainly not a reason not to go there, but keep it in mind. The snorkeling at the hotel is great and you wouldn't want to miss it.

This was our second stay at the El Presidente and we can't wait to return again.

Great location away from San Miguel but only a 10 minute cab ride into town for dinner.

Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. Staff are simply wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Bars are great and the Mexican simple food is good. For really good dining, go into town - try Le Cocay - its excellent!

For divers, the ScubaDu dive club on the beach is fantastic. Great instructors and good kit - and the dive sites are superb.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the hotel for a week and loved everything about the hotel. It is remarkably clean in every respect. We had an Ocean View Suite on the 5th floor. Sitting in a large bathtub watching the sunset is great. The hotel had relatively few guests and the service was perfect (I'm sure the service would be equally perfect if the hotel was full of guests). All of the staff are genuinely friendly and very helpful. I very much recommend Scuba Du--the dive operation located at the hotel. In all, a great experience and definitely on our list of places to return.
