In my recent stay at this hotel, I really enjoyed its private beach and the whole facility: spa, swimming pools, tennis court, hammocks, etc. Ideal for couples or families.
The service made a difference, as everyone was very friendly and willing to assist you with any information. Especially Carlos, the Concierge. He was friendly and professional, assisting me and my friends turning the impossible possible! The restaurant and kitchen staff always flexible to our demands made a difference in our stay.
I highly recommand a stop here!

We just returned from a very nice 10 day stay at Presidente. Our purpose was mainly to scuba dive; but we also wanted to share some comfortable R&R with another couple who were joining us. We got off on the wrong foot on check-in. We were told that our room was not quite ready but that we should spend a minute with a very-friendly Fabian who would give us a tour of the property. We had been warned to avoid timeshare salesmen at the airport and were not expecting a sales job at the best resort on the island. Fabian gave us a map and then a rather hard sell to give them an hour to tell us about how to get cheap rooms in future at Intercontinenal properties. It may technically not be timeshare; but he was selling an investment in a loyalty progrmme. Fabian had a list of offers to make to induce us to have a sales meeting and ended up offering us a free rental car for a day if we would just give them an hour during a lunch or breakfast. To get rid of him we agreed to take a chit entitling us to the honour of meeting them for an hour during a meal and he had the audacity to ask me for $10 as a deposit to confirm our right to be sold to in return for a rental car for a day. I refused to pay anything and he then gave us the chit anyway. Needless to say, we never redeemed it. We then discovered that our room was not the one we had asked for. We were very specific that we wanted an upper floor so so we could dry our scuba gear on the patio without fear of theft by anyone walking by a ground floor room. We had a written confirmation of an upper floor room. However, we were shown our room - on the ground floor - and it was a beautiful suite. We quickly realized that we could deal with our gear and that room was a keeper.

We had been in touch with the Concierge before our arrival and I had asked for a yoga mat and feather pillows. Both were in the room when we arrived. The room was huge, clean and well appointed. The patio looked out to the beach and was also huge. We had two lounges, a hammock (that was very comfortable) and a small table at which we had our complimentary morning coffees (a very nice touch arriving within minutes of every wake-up call).

The rooms had an excess of very large plush towels. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also well appointed and very clean. In all the room was great.

We spent every morning diving and every afternoon at the pool (including the two cloudy days). Pool service was a bit spotty. Sometimes there were people eager to offer drinks and food. Other times there was no one to be found. Everyone whom we dealt with was friendly and seemed eager to please. We discovered at the pool that many other guests also found that there rooms were "not ready" when they arrived so that they too got to spend a minute or 15 with Fabian or one of his hardselling cohorts. We also realized that the resort was pretty empty in the week between college reading week and high school spring break. They closed a wing and that seemed to be why many people were moved to ground floor rooms. Most guests were scuba divers were very friendly. Perhaps because the resort was not busy, there were lots of lounges at the pool and lots of towels. It was also very quiet at night. The town closes fairly early and we often felt that a little music at the bar by the pool would have been a nice way to wind down the evening. Divers generally do not party late into the night, but a little more effort to attract people to a common area would have been appreciated. They even had a 2 for 1 happy hour at the bar but they did not advertise it. We met very nice people at the bar and do not know why they could not put a bit more effort into advertising happy hour and night time music so as to give people a social meeting place.

Food at the hotel was quite good for what it was. We expected accessible tourist-friendly food at a resort and that is what was served. What they called "spicy" sauce with Mexican specialities was mild by our standards and must have been outright bland for them - but that is what we expect at a tourist resort. Requests for extra spice were always met with a smile. The beach bar served grilled snack food that was very tasty. Try the Mayan quesadillas. We made the mistake of ordering breakfast to our room when we had an early start one day and that came with a price sticker shock. But that's what you get for ordering room service at a resort. Otherwise, the buffet breakfast that was included in our package was more than adequate. It had healthy options, fresh fruit but was loaded with local fare and breakfast treats. Staff were quick to refill coffee. We also had lunch and one dinner at the hotel all of which were quite good. We did notice that the nicer Italian restaurant Alfredos was embarassingly empty every night; so we took that as a good hint to give it a pass.

The spa was nice. It was clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly. Our friends played tennis at the tennis courts and found them fine as well. We did not dive with the resident dive shop but we did rent some gear from them one day to do a shore dive right in front of the hotel. ScubaDu were friendly and helpful and the roped off reef in front of the hotel was surprisingly loaded with fish and even a spotted moray eel and a yellow sting ray.

So, we really enjoyed this hotel. Our room was great. The pool was great. Food was very good recognizing that this island is for diving and not for foodies. They should not have a saleman accost you during check-in and they could do a bit more to have an entertainment option at night. While the resort is a bit out of town, the cab to town was about $7 and 10 minutes each way so it was not a big issue. The property is clean. We saw maintenance people performing service all week which is always a good sign. Ocean rooms have beautiful patios. Mercifully no one reported any theft issues while we were there despite earlier posts on Trip Advisor. We just kept an eye on our gear and did not leave it outside unattended. Not a big deal.

Overall we enjoyed the resort and would return. It has 5 star elements. Our room was truly beautiful. Service was good to very good. We did pay top dollar for our room and might look for better value even within the resort if we return. The diving on the island was spectacular.
It is the quality of the reefs that might bring us back to Coozumel. If we do come back, it will likely be to this property.

Room Tip: Ocean view is worth the price. The patios are great.

The food is average here, expensive, and the service slow. We have stayed here for many years and were disappointed to see the service go in the direction of the food...downhill.

I just concluded my first ever winter holiday on the island of Cozumel, and am happy to say that my experience at Presidente InterContinental was memorable, for all the right reasons. I stayed in room 3104, with my brother and his family staying in the adjoining unit. The room was very clean, and well maintained. We initially had an issue with the key cards not unlocking the room doors, but the problem was quickly and courteously solved by the front desk staff.

The atmosphere of the resort was peaceful and serene from my poolside room, and the staff went to great lengths to make our stay comfortable. Fresh hibiscus blooms adorned the room with each visit from housekeeping, and they skillfully fashioned towels and wash cloths into various sea and land creatures to decorate the room - a nice touch! The bed was very comfortable, and the linens always fresh. The marble floors in the rooms felt good under my feet after coming in from the day's scorching temperatures.

The restaurant food was great, and I would personally recommend the Coconut Shrimp to anyone who appreciates great seafood dishes. Even if you find yourself too stuffed from the main course to order dessert, the staff will often serve a tray of complimentary sweets as a courtesy.

The resort is well landscaped, and the groundskeepers rake the sand each morning to keep the beach looking like is was made just for you. Coconuts that hang in great clusters from the numerous palm trees are harvested regularly to avoid the possibility of them falling and injuring a guest, and are used in many of the restaurant's tasty entrees. After nightfall, the grounds of the resort are a feast for the eyes, with colored lights highlighting winding pathways beneath island plants, and candle lanterns glowing within the lobby hallways.

Staff are always happy to please, always offering their assistance and a friendly Mayan greeting (malob kin) when they see guests passing by.

I would highly recommend Presidente InterContinental to anyone wishing to have fond memories of the island treasure of Cozumel.

Room Tip: If you enjoy stretching out in a hammock, you'll need to book an ocean view room.

Sadly, just returned from a wonderful vacation at the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel. WOW. This was such a beautiful place. We stayed in a beautiful ocean front room that was literally steps from the ocean. The staff went so far above and beyond to make us feel comfortable that I was blown away.

We actually planned on spending more time touring around Cozumel, but we had to tear ourselves away finally because there was no reason to leave.

We spent one long morning in the spa, which was beautiful. We ate every meal except for one in the hotel and enjoyed them all completely. Jorge, the concierge gave us a wonderful recommendation for a local restaurant which was fantastic!!!

I don't have a single complaint; except that it will be too long before I can go back!

Room Tip: There is some construction going on at one end of the resort. I would avoid the 3,000 rooms, as the...
