We rented two larger suites for 20 people (8 adults, 12 kids) in April, 2015. Nice price, plenty of room, and the owner was accommodating. The private beach and the two pools were ideal for our group. The condos are quiet and within walking distance of the beach clubs, but we had a much better time when we stayed away from the cruise ship locations. A car is needed to get around the island from here, but it was not an issue. We primarily ate dinners at the condo since the island has significantly less activity after the cruise ships depart in the evening, so the full kitchens were convenient.

Room tip: Higher floors with access to the roof have nice views and more open area.

Booked our condo on VRBO. HUGE 1 bedroom with an oceanview. Unit included everything we needed but beyond the unit the association was more than we could have hoped. Two pools, both of which were warm and clean. We were always able to find a spot on the beach. Never seems busy. Just steps from the dock to go on water tours. The only thing to be aware of is the walk into the ocean is very rocky and may not be the best for kids. We ended up walking a few extra steps to the dock and entering and exiting the water from there. Much safer and a good spot to see some fish.

We have stayed at Residencias Reef numerous times because it was quiet and uncrowded and away from the rowdy scene. Thanks to the Aura Hotel next door having loud parties on the beach the quiet is gone. Most of the music stops around 10:30 but you have to listen to it for a couple of hours. One night the noise went on until around midnight. Lots of people yelling etc. My daughter saw a nude woman walking on the patio of that hotel.

Beyond that, the place is enjoyable. The condos are privately owned so each is different. Building 1 is closest to the beach. Not all of the condos have a water view, so be sure to find out. We met a lot of very friendly people at the pool. Usually lots of fish to see if you snorkel near the pier. Dive Palancar offers good boat snorkeling tours for about $35 pp and they have a desk along the beach at the Aura Hotel. Sign up early as they fill up.

This is a beautiful apartment and very clean... My only negative is that the beach is not very playable.. Lots of reef, but not good snorkeling. Wish I knew where to go to snorkel... The diving class that I signed up for next door was way rushed. I definitely needed a better referral for our discovery diving class. The customer service here was WONDERFUL!! They were very good about meeting our needs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to complement the owners for having such a wonderful and well equipped kitchen. The outdoor spaces are well kept and the bed was comfy. We appreciated finding huge beach towels available. This is a quiet property with a good beach and plenty of lounge chairs with shade. Paradise Beach club is perhaps 100 yards away if you want a little action.

2 things to mention...you have a great view but not ocean view. If you stay at this unit the unit is fabulous but do not expect ocean front. Also, it's Mexico so when they advise to put toilet tissue in trash, do it. No flushing tissue or you may be faced with an overflowing toilet. This is probably not unique to this unit but thought I would mention it. We would stay here again.
