Booked our condo on VRBO. HUGE 1 bedroom with an oceanview. Unit included everything we needed but beyond the unit the association was more than we could have hoped. Two pools, both of which were warm and clean. We were always able to find a spot on the beach. Never seems busy. Just steps from the dock to go on water tours. The only thing to be aware of is the walk into the ocean is very rocky and may not be the best for kids. We ended up walking a few extra steps to the dock and entering and exiting the water from there. Much safer and a good spot to see some fish.

We have stayed at Residencias Reef numerous times because it was quiet and uncrowded and away from the rowdy scene. Thanks to the Aura Hotel next door having loud parties on the beach the quiet is gone. Most of the music stops around 10:30 but you have to listen to it for a couple of hours. One night the noise went on until around midnight. Lots of people yelling etc. My daughter saw a nude woman walking on the patio of that hotel.

Beyond that, the place is enjoyable. The condos are privately owned so each is different. Building 1 is closest to the beach. Not all of the condos have a water view, so be sure to find out. We met a lot of very friendly people at the pool. Usually lots of fish to see if you snorkel near the pier. Dive Palancar offers good boat snorkeling tours for about $35 pp and they have a desk along the beach at the Aura Hotel. Sign up early as they fill up.

This is a beautiful apartment and very clean... My only negative is that the beach is not very playable.. Lots of reef, but not good snorkeling. Wish I knew where to go to snorkel... The diving class that I signed up for next door was way rushed. I definitely needed a better referral for our discovery diving class. The customer service here was WONDERFUL!! They were very good about meeting our needs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to complement the owners for having such a wonderful and well equipped kitchen. The outdoor spaces are well kept and the bed was comfy. We appreciated finding huge beach towels available. This is a quiet property with a good beach and plenty of lounge chairs with shade. Paradise Beach club is perhaps 100 yards away if you want a little action.

2 things to mention...you have a great view but not ocean view. If you stay at this unit the unit is fabulous but do not expect ocean front. Also, it's Mexico so when they advise to put toilet tissue in trash, do it. No flushing tissue or you may be faced with an overflowing toilet. This is probably not unique to this unit but thought I would mention it. We would stay here again.

My husband and I, and our 2 teen daughters stayed at residencias reef for two weeks over xmas. We were in building 2 on the main floor in a one bedroom suite. This place is quite a distance from town, which we were aware of. We were paying between $40-$50 one way to town. Our plan was to have groceries at our condo when we arrived, and to eat dinner at the beach clubs most evenings. The lady we rented our condo arranged the groceries for us. We paid $15 for delivery, plus 20% extra on top of the price of the groceries. Not too bad. It was our first time to cozumel, and was not sure what to expect. The beach clubs were a few minutes walk from our condo, and closed around 5. They were so, so badly overpriced. Three yardsticks, 4 shots of tequila, 1 beer and 2 appetizers came to $2900 pesos. We almost fell over. Okay, time to change our "going down the beach for dinner each night" plan. We made several trips to town to get more groceries. Which was costly as we did not rent a car. There is a taco stand on the main road infront of the condos that made awesome tacos for a great price. Bad thing was they were open and closed at random times.
The condo was in a very nice location. Hot top was filled in so the patio was large with new wicker furnishings. Inside furnishing were nice. Tv was small and old, but we didnt watch much tv. Our girls slept on the hideabed which was incredibly uncomfortable. They complained every morning how sore they were. We ended up putting the couch cushions under the mattress hoping it would help a bit. Maybe 5% better. The pool was always clean and not too busy. Staff were friendly. Any problems were resolved very quickly. There was no maid service at this particular condo. So I cleaned it up and did laundry every day. Snorkelling was pretty boring infront of the condo. My hubby would go by the neighbouring hotels pier to snorkel, which was still not great. We took a tour with chi chi tours. One of the best times we have had. We have been to numerous islands in the Caribbean, and this tour was pretty much at the top. Great crew. We snorkelled amazing reefs, and then went fishing and caught a massive mahi mahi. We were told we would have won the tournament in the spring if we would have caught it then. We were invited a few times to play volleyball next door which was nice. Everyone who stayed at this resort were great people from all over Canada and the US. Would we go back to this condo? No. We would stay in town or very near it. So many neat restaurants and things to do there.
