“Fun times”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

I selected this hotel because I wanted to stay in Cancun semi near all the big attractions. The hotel was clean and full of helpful staff who made us feel welcome. We were greeted with pina coladas and a tour of the hotel. Overall the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We upgraded to an ocean view it was awesome. We never made it to the pool as there was so much to do but walked out to the beach but the surf was extremely rough. The food options were fun and a large variety for everyone. The specialty restaurants were amazing also but fill up early so stand in line first thing to get on the list. lastly it was sad to say good by but I would come back here anytime. We walked to El Rey and took the bus everywhere. My sister and I felt safe and will always remember of trip!

Room Tip: Higher ocean view room is a must!!!

This was a 40th anniversary celebration. We were upgraded here from the Royal solaris, We had a wonderful time, most of the reviews mention the staff they as they are all so friendly and work hard to please it isn't long and you know them on a 1st name basis... Omellia has the cutest smile and makes the best omlets, Vernon, Corona, excellent wait staff, Vincent and the entertainment staff are so much fun, the bar staff, girl waiters around the pool Betty always there to make sure your drink wasn't empty. The nightly entertainment was excellent! The lobby bar has live music every nite.."Montana" were excellent. The resort and room is very clean always had a little surprise on the bed some animal made out of towels. Margareta in the lobby will take care of any problems or needs.. she is the best! The meals were good lots of choices, it is hard to get reservations to Marco Polo ya do need to be there early. On the down side is the time share as they are not up front they make you think you are getting an orientation to the hotel but it is not.The vendors on the beach are not bothersome and have good product Antonio[sells silver] good guy and reasonable.Much better than than Market 28.. I went to a jewellery store called Silver House spent alot of Money on a ring because they charged more on my VIsa and it is not silver,it is the dishonesty that gives Mexicans a bad rap.

Room Tip: we had a lagoon room it was very nice

My husband and I visited GRSolaris in Cancun and was extremely disappointed in the service, rooms with old TV and most of all the nonchalant manager named Carlos. We were made to feel that we were not welcome as visitors but as members you were more important. While there, I observed black birds eating out of the paella at the buffet, this was my proof how unsanitary this so called 5 star hotel was for the money paid. Here you had to pay for wifi which was only available in the lobby of the hotel. GR Solaris in Cancun I considered it to be deceitful in their business practices. I would not recommend anyone to stay there even if it was the last hotel in the Hotel Zone. Visit at your own risk most of the other hotels are much better.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with courteous and frendly staff members. Great service specially from the following people: Mary (Lobby bar), Roberto ( Cafe Solaris and Rossmarinus restaurants), and Gilberto (Marco Polo restaurant). The hotel was very clean and kept in good conditions. The only downside to the trip is the WiFi. It lacks bandwidth and is very slow or you cannot connect.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are worth the extra charge.

My husband and I stayed at the GR Solaris from Jan 30 to Feb 10, 2012 and we had an excellent time! This was our first trip to Mexico but we`ve stayed elsewhere at all inclusives. The resort is smaller but that is what makes it so charming. You get to know people a bit more because you see them more often and there`s always more arriving to meet! The staff was excellent and the resort is very well maintained. Our room was always well cleaned and the balconies are spacious. We sent out some clothes for laundry service and the cost was VERY reasonable and the clothes came back very quickly so don`t worry if you didn`t bring enough - just have them laundered there! There is a bus stop right in front of the resort and for $1 US, you can take it anywhere you want to go in Cancun. The food was excellent with lots of choices and the restaurant staff get to know you and greet you by name and don`t even need to ask what you want to drink by the third trip to the restaurant. They post their `theme` for meals daily so you can decide early if you want to stay at the resort and eat or plan an outing in town for your meal. We only made it to Marco Polo once (on our last night) as getting up early enough to go down and make a reservation proved too difficult for us! The drinks at all the bars were excellent and always served with a smile. Don`t miss out on the afternoon coffee in the lobby - it was the highlight of my day!

Room Tip: Don`t worry about taking US dollars for tipping - just use pesos otherwise they have to have them ex...
