We recently enjoyed a 10 night stay at the Riu Caribe. Having visited the Riu Tequila in PDC the previous two Novembers, we were interested to see how the Caribe compared and were pleasantly surprised. The transfer was about half the length to the Caribe which was good after an 11 hour flight!

The Caribe has been recently renovated and has a much more modern yet still relaxed feel.
Our rooms were kept to a very high standard by the cleaning staff and our minibars topped up regularly.

We enjoyed all the food options available - the buffet, whilst smaller than the Tequila, still had plenty of choice for us. The food was hot and fresh, and replenished frequently. We visited all the ‘A la Carte’ options and enjoyed them all - the Asian and the Gourmet being our favourites. We preferred to eat lunch in the main restaurant but the snack bar was also available with hot dogs/burgers/tacos etc poolside.

Drink options were what you would expect, some pre mixed cocktails and others made fresh. Branded alcohol was available if asked for. Wine options were also reasonable. The lobby bar was a lovely place to enjoy an aperitif or two of an evening.

Travelling as 4 friends, we thoroughly enjoyed the parties in the party zone but they were very much optional and not forced upon guests who didn’t want to participate. As long as you weren’t positioned right next to the party area, you would not even know it was happening. We found them to be well organised and well ‘supervised’ by both security and lifeguards. A good queuing system for the bar meant quick and easy service too.

The staff were really where this hotel shines. Every person we encountered was absolutely delightful. Special mentions to Ruben on the poolside cart, Guillermo in the
main restaurant at lunchtime, and the bar staff at the lobby bar (the older gentleman in particular).

The entertainment team also deserves a special mention - their enthusiasm is infectious! They are inclusive but not pushy to encourage participation in the games etc. The 3pm crazy game in the pool gave us many a laugh over the holiday, all in good fun! Tony the fitness coach was absolutely superb - we enjoyed his AquaFit class every day at noon. He really is an asset to the hotel - thank you Tony for making our holiday!

Overall, we would definitely return and are already looking at booking up for next year.
