Upon check in I upgraded my room to a suite. Good thing I did because the standard room which my brother stayed in had the worst hardest bed I have ever felt. His room had absolutely no insulation and you could hear everything, especially the night club... My room was nice and kept clean. It had a separate living room, bedroom and bathroom and a balcony with pool.
The biggest problem I had with the hotel was the dining. If you want to eat at any of the restaurants you must make a reservation by standing in line from 9am-1pm. You can not call ahead, email or call the day of to make a reservation, you must go down and stand in line. It was such a hassle trying to plan around having to make a dinner reservation, when we had activities planned for each day. For my 4 days staying there, I was only able to get reservations for 2 of the 3 restaurants. I did read other reviews about the dress code and they do enforce it. Men must have pants, sleeved shirts and closed toe shoes.
You can eat at the buffet without reservation, however they hassle you and ask you if your clothes are wet. The food in the buffet was not very good at all. The best food I ate there was a taco bar by the pool that is open when they want it be. Some nights it's open, some it's not... Overall the food at the hotel was horrible, far below par compared to the other all-inclusive hotels we've stayed at in Cancun.
For the hotel not being very busy it took a long time to get drinks. Sometimes we ordered drinks 2-3 times before we got one. This hotel has no lounge chairs on the beach. Which was very odd seeing how both hotels on each side had an abundant amount of chairs. This hotel also has no non-motorized water toys that the website says it offers!
Beware of time share guy in the lobby, that does not tell you he is selling timeshares. When the check-in ushered me to him, I assumed he was showing us around and to our room, it wasn't until 25 mins in that I realized what he was.
