Overall, we liked the trip; although, we did not quite understand the theme before booking.
In a nutshell, this is a Vegas-style-party theme meet Cancun shore.
We’ve been to Cancun several times – honestly this is the best food I’ve had in an all-inclusive; however, this is a more nimble yet tailored offering (think life-style). If you want mountains of different foods then this is not the place. There is something for everyone and it is really good, for example the Mexican chorizo, the sea bass, caldo de pollo, frijoles, and the ceviche on the beach.
Yes, there are still renovations. I think they're noticeable, and “yes” you’ll will bump into both aesthetic and process challenges (i.e. dust on elevator floors or a drain in the shower might need a tweak).
Kudos to the rank and file staff – they resolve EVERYTHING, the key is just communication and a bit of patience, my hat off to them.
Daytime – again Vegas-club vibe on the beach, so make sure you like EDM. If you’ve never heard of Avicii, this may not be a hotel for you. The music starts around 11:00 am and keeps going well into the evening - i.e. I grew up on EDM (long before the heartland heard of Avicii) so this was fine.
Location – great, right by the shopping. My wife loved it because strolling at night was easy.
Evening – lounge feel with DJ. Very...Overall, we liked the trip; although, we did not quite understand the theme before booking.

Drinks – as other travelers have noted, hit and miss service. Management ought to have a look, both the process (by the beach) as well as the selection are off. There are so many great, less known tequilas in Mexico, which have an amazing taste profile, and cost a fraction of the known brands. Why serve the bottom of the Jose Cuervo line if the goal is to create an experience in all other aspects of the hotel? Honestly, if management asked their chefs in the kitchen to pair a few tequilas with your food … they may be pleasantly surprised to the delight of the guests ...
