My wife and I just got back from the Melody Maker and LOVE IT! We have been there several times and this is the best resort ever. Flavio, Aaron Alvarez, Valeria, Dora, Allan and the beach & housekeeping staff were very professional, and very accommodating to our every wants, desires and needs.
The room was unbelievable, clean and ZERO complaints. The food was always great and fresh. The beach and pool was magnificent! The party was great and also the GO GO Dancers!!
I have been to Cancun, Jamaica, Bahamas many times and this is the best resort ever!
The only little advice I would give is to add entertainment to the pool area, and night time entertainment and PLEASE bring back the Rose Bar!
In closing, they have the greatest, most professional, fun, accommodating staff in the world!
We are going back in June can't wait to see Flavio, and Aaron Alvarez! and the rest of my friends!

I booked a trip there, the staff is so friendly and so happy. The food was good and we had a lot of choice. The beach was beautiful and clean. Entertainment lacked a little.
Shut out for the man that worked hard: Israel. Excellent service.
Overall very good experience

Let me get right to the crappy part of our trip...

When booking for this hotel thru a different website, nowhere did it say the room rate was for a single occupant. It was only when checking in did the front desk point out the small print in my booking confirmation. This is not really the hotel's fault, but I would've not stayed here had I known I'd be paying an additional $150 usd per nt. It ended up being around $600/nt for my husband and myself. After paying our dues, the front desk shared some information on the hotel and what time check-out was. We were asked if we could check out earlier than 12pm since they'll be getting busy around that time...a little ridiculous that this was asked of us. They should be honoring that time if we're paying for it.

We finally get to our VIP corner room and the view from our balcony is spectacular. The room was clean and modern and a decent size. The balcony included plenty of seating options - sunbed, lounge chairs, and regular chairs. Here's the downfall— the walls are thin. On our last night at 11pm or so there was a family who checked in and their kids would not shut the heck up. They were loud and jumping and literally screaming. Ibtried to call front desk multiple times and nobody picked up.

Also spectacular, the beach. Wow. Water was clean, blue, and warm. Best part is the sunbeds we were able to use. We were given gold bracelets since we were VIP and really didn't see the difference. Everyone has the same access to the beach, sunbeds, and beds at the pool regardless what they tell you at check in. Only plus was a free 20 min massage and 24 hr room service.

We ventured to the Mexican restaurant at the hotel and were told we could sit inside and wait, but once we got there the hostess barked at us and told us they weren't open. It was 3 mins until they opened and we felt very unwelcomed. We left and ate at the buffet instead.

The pool access can be a little confusing...it doesn't matter how empty it is, but if they have a DJ present, you cannot have access to their lower level pool. Only way you can stay is if you buy a bottle. The top level pool was fine, but it's shallow and only good for kids. Bar service at the pools were a hit or a miss as well. One guy was sniffing constantly and jittery which made me think he was on something. Drinks were alright, anything with tonic was made with diet tonic for some reason. The all - inclusive aspect was convenient, but sometimes felt that it was not up to par with some other hotels I've been to in Cancun. Certainly not worth the steep prices.

The only reason why I'm giving this hotel 2 stars is because the lady that cleaned our room was awesome and so was the guy who'd set up the umbrellas every morning. They were very hard working and very pleasant. The servers at the buffet were also pretty pleasant and really had no issues with their service.

The vibe of this hotel is like a refined and quieter Encore Beach Club in Vegas. EDM in the background and posh decor make it appealing. This hotel clearly targets 20-30 somethings, which is not necessarily bad if you're into that scene.

Overall, highlight of our trip was the uncrowded beach and sunbeds. Pitfalls of this hotel would be the miscommunication from some employees (probably due to it being a new hotel). It really is a shame because it's a beautiful hotel and it's kept well despite the ongoing construction, but still lacking in consistency in service to be considered a 5 star hotel.

Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

*************

Also, if the hotel is going to respond to this as they have with other negative reviews, I expect a response that's individualized and not a copy-paste response.

Hello there Gloria K,
Thank you for sharing your extensive feedback with us, and all of our future guests! We are extremely sorry for the less then enjoyable experience that you had here at Melody Maker Cancun! We do indeed work hard to provide each and every one of our guests with top notch service.
Like every other all inclusive resort in Cancun we charge our rates per person and not per room, It is very unfortunate that your travel agency did not communicate this prior to booking the hotel. I am however glad to hear that our team was able to fix this issue for you. I apologies for the misunderstanding about your check out time, we have verified with our agent, who informs us he only confirmed check out time to you. We are sorry if this made you feel uncomfortable. On the other hand I am glad to hear that he was able to help you book your transfer back to the airport.
Thank you for mentioning that you enjoyed the room the spectacular views that you had and the sunbeds at the pool. The golden wrist band does actually give you access to a different drink menu than the rest of the all inclusive guest. I am sorry this was not properly communicated to you. I am a little confused about the diet tonic you got served though since we do not have any on property.
We will make sure to pass on your positive comments to our cleaning staff and pool attendants.
And lastly please rest assured that we take all comments, positive or negative, very seriously and reply to them on a personal note and not just copy paste :)
Gloria I would really appreciate the opportunity to welcome you back for a fabulous stay, as it would give us the opportunity to restore your vision of Melody Maker Cancun. We work hard to curate memorable guest experiences, but understand that this time we simply did not get it right.

Happy New Year!

Christopher

The price was way too high for the quality. This place shouldn't be opened yet. Construction everywhere. Some people have the view of the construction only.
No entertainment except for a very loud music on the beach. Some pieces of "art" look like done by 2-3 years old kids. No information brochures. The only written in Spanish information were names of restaurants. No information about location. Rooms poorly furnished. New Year's Eve party was a total disaster, not to mention that the tickets were offered for $450 p/person without previous notification. The DJ was terrible. Loud music right by the windows in the open air lasted till 6:30AM. People didn't dance because the quality of music didn't allow dancing. Because of that party people were not allowed to go around. It was all inclusive stay and because of that party restaurants were closed.
I strongly suggest you stay away from this place. In Cancun I was in several different resorts before and I was always satisfied.
Happy New Year.

Hello zofjoe and thank you so much for the time that you took to share your feedback, regarding your recent stay with us! We do everything that we can to make sure that all of our guests are content, and having a great time!
We know that everybody has a different perception about art, and we completely understand if you did no t like ours. I can however assure you that the artist responsible for the artwork displayed throughout the hotel, Yuri Zatarain, is a very successful one, feel free to look him up :) We apologize if the room wasn't entirely to your liking, we usually get very good comments about them.
I am very shocked to hear about the prices you mention for the party and the lack of information. We had a designated desk in the lobby selling tickets starting at 80 dollars and we had flyers all over property. Additional to that we had a Facebook page with all information regarding the event.
Nonetheless we apologize that you did not have a great stay with us. We truly wish that you would give us a second chance the next time you come to Cancun! We would love to make it up to you! Please contact me directly when you are coming I would like to be able to personally handle your reservation, and make sure that your time spent here is an all-out successful experience! I hope to hear from you soon!

Great beach but chairs aren't plentiful and far from the water. VIP bottle service lounge plays music throughout the whole pool area and beach all day. Good for young people. WIFI is TERRIBLE. Just awful. Barely worked anywhere. Food was decent but not much selection at all. Very little to choose from.
