I live very close by this museum. I never stop getting amazed but the struture. It is huge and incredible just to watch it from outside.

The collection inside is amazing. It is as far as I know the private collection of Carlos Slim. It is free tothe public. It has a small souvenir shop inside and a café. It is not allow to enter with beverages.

This is a nice private collection, but I actually expected more. However, the museum is free, and there are some interesting sculptures on the top level. FYI Do not go on weekends!

apart from having a great collection the meseum is also has no entrance fee unlike all the other museums we visited. start on the 6th floor and work your was down. it will take you 1-2 hours depending how thoroughly you appreciate the peaces of art.

If you are an art lover and visited some places in the US or in Europe, you feel very cramped in this place.
There us a mixed bag of good and not so good art work here.
I do not see any clear structure on the various floors and sometimes I think I am in a variety store or a antique store.
Even the people who never visited before a museum, deserve a good curator and not only a time line on the wall.
So if you can not make it, you do not
miss anything.
Go for example to the Zocalo and the beautiful murals of Diego Rivera or his smaller place near Alameda Park.
They are both worth a visit.

Look the building is stunning and the free entry is very nice.

However you have to be into religious paintings and old Spanish masters who painted in mostly dark tones to really enjoy it.

They have coin collections, ivory collections, and lots of sculptures as well but a lot of these are very similar.

Not my thing. I thought other museums such as Chapultepec, Antropologia and Arte Moderno where better.
