One of our best hotels we've stayed in. The hotel servers we had looking after us were very good -- friendly and helpful in takeing us through the menu options.
Importantly they did an excellent job -- Mary, Cesar, Adan. Trinidad plus the manager David.
The location of the hotel could not have been better - right on the main city square, which proved useful for our trips the the cities main attractions.

Room tip: A room with a view of the main square.

We found this hotel by accident and we were so glad we did as it was just beautiful.

It was full of old world charm and the staff take great pride in working there and making your stay great.

Every guest is welcomed with a glass of sparkling and they had an extra special treat in our room for our honeymoon, with cakes and balloons to celebrate.

The room was very comfortable and we had a terrific view of the Zocalo and were even able to see the flag raising in the morning from our window.

Definitely a great location and we felt very safe - don't worry about the 100 or so police officers in the Zocalo...better they are there then they are not!

Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Please be aware that I am reviewing this hotel not as a hotel guest, but as tourist who wanted to see the hotel.
It's an impressive building, complete with formal uniformed doorman, but he was happy to let us go into the foyer to see the impressive ceiling, elevator and bird cage. it was beautiful.
For all you James Bond buffs, in "Licence to Kill" (1989), Timothy Dalton as 007 is staying at this hotel with Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) when they are visited by Q (Desmond Llewelyn). There are photos on the internet of the foyer - so I took a photo accordingly.
The hotel is almost on the corner of Constitution Plaza, so as most tourists get down around that area (with all of it's historic buildings), it's easy to take a look at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico at the same time. It's worth it.

Mr.
Thank you for taking the time to write your sincere opinion about your recent stay with us. As you may know, we have the privilege of being located in one of the most historic and emblematic buildings in Mexico City´s downtown. Due to this, the hotel maintains a classical and vintage style in order to perfectly match with the design the building originally counts with. Also, we constantly have our guest's satisfaction and comfort at heart, which is why we count with modern commodities.
I hope you give us an opportunity to stay with us for the first time and enjoy the unique experience we offer at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico. It will be a pleasure to have you as a guest and in the future.
Best Regards.

Firstly, the location could not be better, right beside the Cathedral and the Templo Mayor Museum. Perfect for everything, especially for fantastic restaurants. The Zocalo terminal made is so easy to go via Metro to all the places we wanted, and it was so easy. We even took the Metro to 'Arena Mexico' for a fun night!! And felt incredibly safe.
Beautiful hotel. The room was clean, very spacious and welcoming. And the staff, well, we felt we left old friends. They were patient in explaining where to go, how to get there, informative on museums and Mexico City, just everything.
Thank-you especially to Cynthia & Javier, but all staff there were just exceptional hosts and should be very proud of their work.

I am incredibly impressed with not only the grandeur and utter elegance of this regal hotel but the customer service levels are beyond amazing.

I'm sitting here Terrace Bar, enjoying the sunset having a margarita with my girl friend and the servers and bartenders are so on point ! Adan, Eduardo, David and their bartender Javier O took such great care of us girls. Not only did they serve us as any 5star restaurant would - but they made us laugh, told is great stories and gave us recommendations of local places we'd be interested in. Highly recommended!
