This modern hotel is centrally located. The staff was very helpful and the room was clean. The hotel's food was good. The free wi-fi is only for one device, though; it must be purchased for additional devices.

I have been staying at this hotel for more than 20 years as I often travel to CDMX. It is quiet and extremely well located. This last stay was not acceptable. The toilet did not work, the shower door would not open, the sheets are polyester, the pillows like 10 kilo bags of refined sugar, and it was hot as Hades. The fan did not nod and made a deafening roar. To their credit, the wonderful staff remedied everything they could, but much was left to be desired. And it is no longer an inexpensive place to stay. The restaurant is pricey and dreadful. It used to be a neat and busy place to meet other visitors. Now it is virtually empty. The bar is nice, but, really, $120 peso mezcal shots that go for $40 out here in the province where I live. I am so sorry to have to report all this. I hope the hotel's management will restore this old beauty to her former elegant and comfortable state.

Room Tip: Ask for view of garden.

We have been staying at the Maria Cristina for at least 20 years, mainly for it's location and price. It is clean, but in desperate need of bathroom renovations and a website update. Internet service is horrible. The staff is great, but the hotel is resting on its laurels (built in 1937). The garden bar is a welcome oasis from the hustle-bustle of the city. However, this will be our last visit to a tired old lady in need of more than a half-hearted facelift.

The Maria Cristina's a comfortable, well-maintained hotel within walking distance of Reforma Ave., restaurants, museums and the Zocalo. The Spanish-colonial hotel offers a good restaurant and outdoor patio in addition to AC, wi-fi, a mini-refrigerator, in-room safe, and cable TV.
