As most have commented, it's older, no real views and in the middle of town.

The front desk ladies are wonderful and English is good.

The breakfast is typical Hampton, even for Mexico.

No fridge in the rooms, so that kind of sucks.

I can say the connecting restaurants serve good food and had good service. Sadly no Tecate

I felt safe and they would get me a taxi instead using the street taxi.

This hotel in in the historic center of town, 2 minutes from the main city square, near the Royal Hotel, Very Historic a must see. The new James Bond movie was shot there. A lot of people in the city. Good restaurants too. The hop on -off bus is located at the square. Suggest a 2 day pass if you go, definitely need a pass to see all the sites. All museums are free but they are all closed on Mondays even the major parks. Enjoy your holiday,

Room tip: Corner suites are the best

Positives:
Great location, close to the historic district
Great service, everyone was friendly and helpful including concierge and front desk
Beautiful building - felt more like a boutique hotel with stained glass and ironwork
Nice hot breakfast included
Comfortable beds
Pretty spacious room/living room area
Very sensible Hilton honors points redemption (only 10,000 points per night - nice value)

Negatives:
The Pope was visiting and evidently made it impossible for them to do laundry during our stay. They said we could use their facility on the 5th floor, but really? They should have some back up supplies to equip rooms with more towels at least.
The pillows were awful.
Bathroom area was a bit tight and difficult to maneuver around that area with just 2 people staying in the room
If you are looking for a local feel - you won't exactly get it here. It's very American and some people might like that because you get what you expect to get.

Overall, I would definitely stay there again, because of the value and location!

I'm very sorry about the situation regarding the Pope's visit, we tried to help all our guest to get trough this situation, this kind of events are beyond our hands.

We do have enough equipment in storage, we are going to verify what happened with your request, I'm very sorry about that.

We would be delighted to welcome you back to Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City Centro Histórico in the near future.

A good location.
Problems: Impossible to open the room windows.
Dinner restaurant us not sufficient. In half board package, you are getting a fixed menu without any options to change meals you dislike.

Thank you for your comments, regarding the windows situation it is actually for security reasons and government regulations, about the dinner menu, the restaurants are not part of the hotel, but we can let them know your comments in order to improve.

THE HAMPTON INN AND SUITES CENTRO STORICO was an outstanding hotel in every respect. First, its location is superb, about four blocks south of the Zocalo in the midst of shops and restaurants, but far enough away to be away from any noise and crowds on the Zocalo. We booked a slightly larger room which had a sofa and large “desk” area that gave us a lot of space for guides, packages bags etc. The price with taxes (two weekday and two weekend nights) was $135 a night with the usual Hampton Inn full breakfast included and free wifi. The building is lovely – a former convent with beautiful tiles in the large open space and stained glass roof around which the rooms are located. We were on floor 4 and we heard no noise from any other room or from the lobby. Another wonderful feature of the hotel is the gorgeous roof terrace: wicker sofas and chairs and tables, a fountain, nice plantings under a large “sail” awning. Every afternoon we’d return, pour ourselves a couple of cups of the complimentary coffee (and tea) from the lobby and take the elevator to the roof terrace for a very relaxing end of the day. The best feature of the hotel was the staff – absolutely outstanding in every respect. Mr. Mendoza, the concierge and his colleagues were constantly available for advice and assistance in every regard. The desk staff and every one of the others from the men at the front to the folks at breakfast, cleaners and others were genuinely friendly and helpful. Location, the hotel, the rooms, the staff – one of the best overall hotel experiences in many years of travel.

Room tip: While overall quiet, a room above Floor 2 or 3 would be away from the breakfast bustle.
