Things didn't get off to a good start - and then went downhill.

The Trip Advisor location pin indicates that the hotel is located fairly close to the Jardin de la Union, on De los Dolores (it is actually out of town, on the way to Valenciana). We were in a rush and didn't read the various reviews, that make the location clear, we simply noted the price and rating, which by Guanajuato standards appeared reasonable.

On arrival we were assigned a room overlooking the swimming pool. The curtains in the room didn't close properly, leaving gaps between each set of curtains. We requested and were assigned a different room where the curtains didn't close properly either, but given that there was no nearby access we weren't concerned.

Unfortunately, our change of room was not updated on the system. This meant that housekeeping didn't clean the room as they thought it wasn't occupied. We were also disturbed by a staff member arriving to check another guest into our room well into the following evening!

We ate at the restaurant on our last evening. There was one waiter on duty for dinner, and he got called out to assist with a function, leaving patrons without anyone to serve them! I had to go looking for someone who could assist in providing bills and serving food that was ready in the kitchen.

The location is not convenient if you plan to spend a lot of time down-town and traveling without a car (repeat taxi fares, repeat waiting for taxis).

Our room was decent enough but hardly worth the cost, even by Guanajuato's inflated prices.

Room tip: Make sure the curtins close, before accepting the room.

Located towards La Valenciana, this hotel has a nice view of all Gto.

Has a restaurant with also a great view and good for breakfast.

Rooms are a bit small, but clean. Beds are firm bit still you get a good night sleep.

No AC, so open your windows for ventilation.

Staff not the greatest for help and not the best customer service...definitely room for improvement.

The hotel has a colonial architecture and the staff is very welcoming and kind. It also has a very nice view of the city if Guanajuato because it is up the hill. If you're traveling by car, it's much easier to move around, otherwhise, use a taxi because the bus takes up to half an hour to get there, they're not very pricey anyway. It's like a 10-15 min drive from the city center, not because it's far away but because streets are small and intricate.

The room was small but nice and clean, just what I would expect for it's price,as it was at peak season.

It's in between of the city center and some attractions like the Mine and the Inquisition Museum.

It was a very cozy stay.

We booked two rooms for 3 nights at this hotel in January 2015 because it had a pool and seemed nice as per reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel looks really nice and the lounge area is very large. I was dreaming of enjoying the view while using the pool, but the water was ice cold and there was no lounge chairs around it.
The hotel is not accessible for the handicapped as there is a 20-step staircase to go to the bedrooms.
We were disappointed because the rooms, although very clean, are small and the two double beds are placed against the walls, so no easy access for the person sleeping against the wall. We had no view. The window and balcony were not accessible because of the proximity to one of the beds. It was very cold in the rooms because there is no heating. The shower was minuscule, but there was lots of hot water. There was an iron but no ironing board. No chest of drawers. No face cloths. The beds are very firm.
The lounge had a huge fireplace, but no fire. They only light it at Christmas. As for the restaurant, it is accessible by car or by a series of long staircases. It was not inviting, with no clients so we did not go. For breakfast, as the hotel is not in the city, we had to buy some food at the grocery store and eat it in the lounge which was offering some coffee. We will not stay there again.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view.

It was a nice stay for us, BUT don't book their local tours! The "San Miguel de Allende" tour that we bought in this hotel was scandalous, we wasted our time...
The hotel is not far from the center, you can go walking (15 min). It's in the heals with a beautiful view of the city

Room tip: ask for a room with view, near the swimming pool
